>Today I enjoyed the day off — got up relatively early and headed east to stop by my mom’s school.

It was the first time I had seen this new school, and it was interesting to be able to visit while school was in session. She worked in an elementary school for so many years, then about 2 years before she’s ready for retirement she gets a good job at a vocational high school. Her specialty being English and Title1 (MA dept of education speak for special ed) it works well at a vocational high school as English is not normally a strong point.

I needed to borrow her camera to take some pictures for a client’s website. I ate lunch with her in the teacher’s lounge. It certainly was a blast from the past, a few kids would yell greetings to my mom in the hall, the bell rang and the herd went stampeding by. Same story, different school. I felt a little uncomfortable talking with the teachers, but managed to hold my own and discuss a few things, mainly telecommunications and general computer stuff.

It was a relaxing drive out in the country, took my time – no hurry, got home and worked on the site for a little while before heading out to yet another shindig at a co-worker’s place. They had a keg, and meat on the grill, and many many people in a small circle in the back yard. Apparently because of dog poo (I found out later he had taken care of that, as I would have thought he would, with a scooper that afternoon) so it was rather odd to see such a large fenced-in yard with everyone congregated in a very small area.

I drank some and chilled there for a while – it was funny to hear the geek speak, but nowhere near the conversation on Thursday:

“Don’t ask me about grammar when I’ve been drinking…”

“Well, what about parenthesis… I use those all the time, everything parenthesis.”

“I always use that dot dot dot thing (…)”

“Elipsis!”

“Yes! Dude, I LOVE elipsis!”

It was a fun evening, the kegstands were just getting started when I left — had refrained for about an hour and hadn’t gone crazy that evening, so was able to drive and made it home safely. I had to get up early to help my father with his tag sale in the morning.
