When I arrived, I was seccond to another woman who said she had filed an application before, that she had an interview… the recruitment worker was confused, what the woman was telling her didn’t pan out — that wasn’t how they did things. The woman eventually confirmed (as in-directly, and with as little responsibility as possible) that she needed to fill out an application. She was trying to lie her way into it (say she submitted the application, that they lost it, and might give her preference for some better jobs maybe?) because she was “computer illiterate” as she put it.

I had just turned the computer on – thinking I could just pop on it while she was dealing with this woman. She hit the button, turned it off, and left the room.

It was quite funny to me, she didn’t notice the button and I knew it wouldn’t do squat until she returned. Once she did — she was confused, hit the button again and turned it on sucessfully, again leaving the room.

She came back once it was back up, but the woman was still helpless, couldn’t follow the step by step instructions as to how to get to the web site (with pictures) so apparently she had never used one, or probably it was just the ‘internet’ aspect of it.
