That’s about 19 people a day on average!
(wahoo!) 😉 k – I’m done.
Saturday I ended up party hopping — I got home, cleaned up the house (no one had touched anything for the past week), cleaned up myself… and headed out. I went to a birthday party with friends from work — they had the juice of the evening, delish as usual. There was many a frisky lass, and it was great fun. I sobered up a bit after a walloping cup or two… and was off to check out WNEC – alas… I arrived too late as the party had been disbanded. I understand how it might, given they had caused an uproar the evening before… and this time they thought it would be great to light a reindeer up on the front lawn. Not like — plug it in, like — light it on fire!
I was then on my way to check out the afterparty. I wasn’t able to make the Treading Water’s show in Ware — too far to trek with me getting out of work @ 8:30, but I could at least go hang out afterwards.
It was a great time as usual – recovered on Sunday. I did some more cleaning, hung around, did a small bit of food shopping (enough for a couple of days), and attempted to develop a taste for scotch. I think I did a pretty good job, considering… but what a headache. I need some further experimentation to see if that’s a normal side-effect. =]
Classes are coming to an end. Accounting is especially hectic. I got my last test back – a 99… so I’m happy. There’s a big assignment tonight, tomorrow, and a ‘make up’ class on Friday due to last week’s Monday holiday. I was hoping to have some fun this week… but noooooooo. =] I’m ahead in all other aspects, however… so I suppose I can hold out until next Wed — the last day of classes, then finals.
The satellite (the whole reason I’m not online on the weekends) has been down, so I commandeered the neighbor’s phone line yesterday. I was still having issues so I called tech support. After about 10 min on the phone with level 1, and 45 minutes on hold ( I took a nap in the meanwhile ) I got through to the level 2 support. They did a test on my transmitter strength from their end – 25 out of a suitable 50-60, 100 would be perfect… so they’re going to be calling me to schedule an appointment (in fact, they called me this morning to come out today – but I wasn’t going to be available, so still awaiting another call to schedule for later in the week).
It worked fine as a 1-way (50-70k/sec), but I couldn’t be using their phone line all night… so downloaded Return to Castle Wolfenstein for OSX, updated my OSX with updates, surfed a little — then I was off. I’m getting a phone line installed next Monday, which is probably just in time for the satellite to get fixed… .:sigh:. se la vie =]
Return to Castle Wolfenstein worked really well on my iMac, 1.1ghz w/ GeForce 4 (128 meg) – 800×600. The widescreen format was all screwed up, probably part of the patch that was just released for the full version but this was just a demo, so I don’t expect too much versatility. I had all the graphics turned up and it looked better and smoother then on my PC, 1.5ghz P4 w/ GeForce 3 (64 meg).
I was impressed.
This is from a person who was always sure mhz was no myth. Efficiency appears to be the way to go (which makes sense), and though it seems sometimes the whole computer is awaiting the completion of 1 instruction… it’s generally faster, and even better with more memory, but isn’t everything?
So the 128bit RISC appears to beat the 32bit CISC counterpart. It’s certainly capable of running 3D better — now I wonder if I can do some screenshots…
Oh… and brainstorming at work came up with this great iPod engraving idea. (Thanks to Ray for making this dream an effective reality)
