>I’m tired today — but it’s OK. I’ll deal, I’ll sleep later.

I’m behind in COBOL, it’s official. I’m going to hand in my half-done assignment 2 and see what happens.

I’ll be able to work on it after I’ve handed it in, then get him the finished copy ASAP. I’m hoping it’ll at least buy me time. I can’t take the test for assignments 1, 2, and 3 without even having handed in 3.

I spent a long time today trying to gain some insight into 2 very beautiful ladies. I can’t say they even had the remotest interest in me… but I wasn’t going for that… and they seemed to talk like I wasn’t even there – so it worked out.

One of my classes got out early today, so I was just bumming around.

I grabbed a bite to eat and sat down at the only available table with a landscaper and a waitress.

I knew this because “work” was their current topic of conversation.

I took out my accounting book and “read” as I listened intently and munched on my burger.

The girl wanted a job, the guy went on about how he did landscaping under the table for $9 an hour.

– When it’s hot out it’s really hard – it drains the energy out of you.

She would like a job as a waitress. Her old job would rake in $120-$140 a night, and most places she said are about $80, and at 2 nights a week… she needs that extra.

A short while later the girls friend came over, having about 6 empty salt packets and very very salty fries. She made a face and got flushed when she took a bite and the guy asked “Salty?”

It appeared that they were, she knew it… but they were fine. She munched on.

She was very skinny, blonde, with a tan complexion. The other girl wasn’t quite as attractive but both took very good care of themselves.

The topic turned to relationships after the guy left – the girl said how he was very sweet, in one of her classes, and how he’s always talking about his girlfriend with nothing but caring and affection.

The fry-girl said he was one of her first high school crushes.

I deduced they all knew each other from high school.

Fry-girl was saying how she got up at 4am – was just thinking about stuff and couldn’t get back to sleep. “I’ve just been stressin’ about stuff” worrying in regards to school, not so much about guys… but it triggered a question to the fry-girl about the guy she went out with. She started by saying how the guys just don’t ‘seem to care’ anymore. I think I missed some further explanation.

– “He’s gorgeous, 6’1”, brown hair – it’s good – we both said we’re looking for about the same thing. We care about each other but neither of us are really looking for anything right now. So it’s good that we both feel the same about it.

She spoke of 3 or 4 guys – all really tall, muscular, and how this guy beats them all – goes to some college near Boston – and even impressed Amanda… and he’s totally not Amanda’s type.

As I was wrapping up, the girl was talking about her assignment for English:

– I need to write about “Fear Factor” and why it’s compulsive, or addictive, or whatever…

She was also going to include a “bio on the host” for a bonus.

As I left I had to say something —

“I just can’t believe they’re assigning reality TV for English homework – doesn’t seem right.”

She gave a look – like I insulted her. The fry-girl inquired further on my point — the girl had chosen it as a topic…

and off to class I went.
