>Woo hoo! It looks like we’ve found our place. I went to go look at the house on Saturday — it’s a large house, 4 sections, somewhat old… but I think what sold us was the current residents. 3 adorable young ladies who were moving out because they were graduating soon. That aside: the place was cheap, it was certainly good enough — roomy… it’s out near Amherst, college town, UMASS, etc. The rest of the place is also populated with college students, almost like a little commune. I was very pleased, unfortunately Sept 1st is when it’s available for rent, but I can ride it out until then.
We stopped at the Ganja-fest on Amherst common, hung out there for a bit, listened to some music, got some food — and I saw an ex girlfriend, and a past friend who has a problem with me. One of those “out of the blue — I have a problem with you, but I’m not telling you what it is” situations… we haven’t hung out in at least a year or so… haven’t spoken — he just has nothing to say to me. I attempted to be civil, greeted him with a handshake… but they were both just ice-cold… so I was on my way. The good news is that he looked like shit and she was incredibly round… so no one was doing “absolutely fantastic”. Se la vie.
I met up with some friends, hung out for a bit — watched some SNL and Jackass, ordered some Quickies (local buffalo wing joint), and just chilled out. We passed the time till about 10 when we went back out Amherst way to catch a party. There was an incredible ammount of people… 5 kegs and they were gone about an hour or so after I got there. I got about 3 & 1/2 cups worth… which was good enough. It raged on till about 3 or 4 — then people were leaving and few remained. The remaining pulled up a futon, couch, chair… you name it — and zonked out, myself included.
It was a good night, got to know some people from the area, which will be nice when I move out that way… they had a live band, and there was always someone to strike up a conversation with. There was one guy who seriously reminded me of the guy from “Dead Man on Campus” totally out there, you could tell he’d been drinking all night — stumbling around, etc. He had a bashed lip, and a large cut on his finger. “Do you rember where you got that?” “Naaaaaw, maaaaan… huhuhhe”. There was the frat guy manning the keg: “Welcome to the front of my line…” and the guy who insisted on blasting “Sweet Home Alabamma” and rockin out over and over. There was also a blind guy — somewhat led around by this nice young lady. After she had a few she kept forgetting she needed to lead him and eventually he was sitting there by himself. The “Sweet Home Alabamma” guy ended up talking to him and couldn’t stop raving about “how this was such a cool dude”. Someone leaned over to me “you know, that guy’s probably so smart… when you lose one sense, you gain it in all the others…” uh huh. =]
There were many cool characters, I think I’m going to enjoy the college life, without the 10,000 price tag. ^-^
