Connectix Virtual PC 6.0 allows me to load any operating system. If you can boot from the CD, you can install it. You could probobly use a boot disk too, but who uses disks? =]~

I’m amazed. I’ve got a 1ghz and 786mb of RAM running OSX. The virtual PC it creates has a basic soundcard and video card (Trident S3) and whatever hard drive space you have currently. It uses the other hardware just as a PC would (DVD Drive, etc), although it’s got a software layer inbetween so it’s not quite as fast. The default settings result in 512mb of RAM and 500mhz 686 processor. The ammount of memory can be modified but I’m not sure about the processor, I have 1ghz to work with but I may need the difference in CPU for the translation/software inbetween. At any rate it works well enough, I don’t have much processor free — it really eats it, but it works and I can still do stuff in OSX while it’s doing processing in the background. My CPU monitor is about 10-25% red, with the remaining taken up with green — so it’s using 100% of the CPU, and 25% of that is foreground processing (which is held up waiting for the current process to be completed so that it may use the result).

It’s no way to live, but now it’s feasable to run a dual 2ghz Mac’Tower’O’Power and virtual PC anything I may need to run.

Apparently 7.0 was the last version by Connectix before Microsoft bought them. Look out folks, if it’s one thing Microsoft knows, it’s a good investment.
