Battlefield 3: Armored Kill Review

I guess I should add something here about close quarters as well I’ll have some screenshots and videos with descriptions and general information about the new packs Had to at least get a place holder up… Ok so it’s been a good week or so of good tank combat and I must say it is a good addition to the game. I play on a particular server with B2K and ARK, it is all flight maps and it is so great to have both packs maps in rotation. I have gotten

ICEnhancer 2.1 1.0.4.0 Final

icenhancer 2.1 1040 has been released! [Download] ICELaGlacE Official Site More to come… [ screenshots ] Nothing too impressive yet – just updated smaa to fxaa, we’ll see if there’s an obvious difference. There was a major need for some sort of aliasing, made all the more apparent by the light. Night is pretty in its own right, but don’t lose your headlights. Make sure to catch the sunrise over the beach!

My 6-year-old Judges Books by the Covers, from No Exit to 50 Shades of Grey

What is No Exit About? “Momma, what’s this book about?” That is a question that I hear every time we go to our local bookstore as my very curious six-year-old daughter picks up eye-catching books from various sections from fiction to biographies to psychology. My family spends a fair amount time in bookstores, so this is a query I’ve become accustomed to hearing and one I try my darndest to answer (but really, how does one explain James Joyce’s Ulysses to a six-year-old?). Stop With the Online!

You’ve read this article before, and you’ve probably experienced some level of frustration at the hands of copy protection at some point, be it music, movies, or games. I don’t know what you’ve been up to either, if you haven’t. This subject is fresh in my mind, and I chose to revisit it because Ubisoft ruined my afternoon. I only get a small window to game with children sometimes, and that window was just wasted in an attempt to play what is among the worst games ever made.

Review: The Sims Medieval

I’ve played Sims 3 in the past. I enjoyed building the character up for a while, establishing relationships and such, but I quickly grew tired of the annoying need to eat, pee and sleep. Of course, I was pregnant with twins at the time, so this was probably more troublesome to me than the average player – too much like reality! So why did I try this game in the first place? Well, honestly because there is an expansion pack called Pirates and Nobles. I’m a sucker for pirates so it caught my interest. Throw in the fact that reviewers…

GTA – Are you ready for The updated ICE?

He’s been hard at work, and the installer is ready to go. The updated version of iCE. Enhancer for GTA4 will be out next week. One again we visit what you’ll need. I am prepared. I have GTA reinstalled fresh. Here’s what you need to do the same: Do a new install if you have an old one hanging around (this includes the RSSC), then get your system ready with the 1.04 patch. You may also want to add some fresh car models (see below) and I highly recommend this realistic handling by killatomate and reVO, you shouldn’t need to…

Review: Max Payne 3

Whew. That’s a rush. I just got done playing through my first hour of Max Payne 3 and I feel… stimulated, enthralled, and defeated. I had to stop playing though. There is only so many times you can replay the same section after repeatedly accidentally bullet-time-ing off the side of a building. I’ll revisit another night. I’m sad that I didn’t get any good screenshots or video, however. I must say it plays brilliantly – there wasn’t a skip a start, a stutter at max settings. The people are well modeled, move realistically (the trailers made them look a little…

Back On The Trail

It felt good to get back on the bike today. It wasn’t the first time but it was the first real ride this season, in several seasons, really. Last week some time I had hooked up the bike trailer for the kid and we drove around a bit but we stuck to the pavement (for the most part) and apparently it was still “real bumpy”. So today I did an honest to goodness trek through the woods. Eased into the water drinking (I tend to get carried away and go too much / too cold too soon) regulated that well…

FPS – Fighting With Feedback

More to come on this. Zombie bite for now So I have this giant wound on my hand from last week, an accident at a public sprinkler resulted in some slippage and skinnage. Ive also been playing a lot of BF3 lately . I play with the Novint Falcon so I’m essentially holding a pistol the whole time . My hand throbs, the pain makes it feel more visceral, more with it, maybe even playing better. I am more cautious, and aware.

EA Finds Yet Another Way to Squeeze More Money (BF3)

So it did not seem feasab.e that EA would get me to go “Premium”. As much as I love the series, even this game in particular, my hatred for EA overrules all. I wish someone else could own it, but who knows what a non superstar budget would do to the series. In any case, here is the deal with Premium: You pay up front to get a special asterisk on your name online “exclusive” dog tags and some extras assignments. They were introduced with Back to Karkland and I really enjoyed the extra challenge of trying to hit the…

Diabolical Intentions

So after many hours of gaming, possibly 14 or 15, I finally got to Diablo. It started out with reasonable ghouls and creatures and slowly built. I ran through the first two acts with little issue. I had teamed up with my friend to play so we were a good match. He could toast them all from a distance and I would run right into the mix hacking, slashing, and spinning the rest. We even got through act 3 but for 4 I was on my own, no fault to my friend. He had played when I had a very…

Review: Dirt Showdown

Dirt started as a rally racing game, hence the name. It had a really good model… no turbo, relatively realistic driving physics, and decent graphics. They kept expanding into the other genres, such as Gymkhana, stadium, and others. Dirt 2 was a pretty good success, and Dirt 3 came out relatively quietly – most received their copy as an afterthought when buying a new ATI video card. I thought they’ve been good the whole way, they really didn’t add too much craziness, which is refreshing. Simulation racing is hard to come by, and Shift 2 didn’t do it any favors.…

Sum Sum Summa Time

It is days like this that remind me that summer is just as much a gaming season as winter. I avoid the polarization and increase my gaming repertoire. There are several new titles as of late, and I have played a few of them. Here are my general impressions: Diablo III – Yes, you’ve heard it bandied about. It’s set the record and beyond. If you don’t have it, a friend does – 3.5 million on the first day and that does NOT include the 1.2 million Blizzard drummed up with their WoW promotion, NOR the millions in the Korean…

Review: Call of Juarez: The Cartel

It’s really as bad as you’ve heard. From the very first screen you are alerted to its crappiness. The text itself is circa Mortal Kombat – giant and pixellated. It looks so dated. It really feels like a modern Sega CD – it hardly even looks 3D. I barely got through the first level. I bought it for $5 – shipped from the UK for the amazing price of $2.49 – gotta love Amazon. I figured there must be at least SOME saving grace, story, anything. From what i saw the story tries really hard to be in depth (remember,…

Updates of Drafts From Long Ago

Oh goodness, one or two of those drafts were actually published, some on purpose but there’s another that I didn’t exactly mean to. It’s up now though, so lets just hope no one reads that one until it’s fallen back into the history again. I found one particular incident that I feel I need closure on. I recently met back up with a former roommate online – so I have a way to ask about this incident. It may bring all the feelings back, but I’d like to think she’s in a similar place as I am now. We have…

Historical Articles / Posts Restored

The last post made me realize that the old template made all the old posts esentially unreadable. You couldn’t scroll down so anything other then the initial screen was only readable via the source of the page. That doesn’t really work for most people. I’ve reposted all 1200+ articles from the old site via blogger import so I’ve now got them all on the new DB. Nothing is tagged, but you can still find them by browsing back through the calendar. I’ll be tagging them with the year at least so the summaries will be browsable via that particular tag.…
