ICEnhancer 2.1 1.0.4.0 Final

icenhancer 2.1 1040 has been released! [Download] ICELaGlacE Official Site More to come… [ screenshots ] Nothing too impressive yet – just updated smaa to fxaa, we’ll see if there’s an obvious difference. There was a major need for some sort of aliasing, made all the more apparent by the light. Night is pretty in its own right, but don’t lose your headlights. Make sure to catch the sunrise over the beach!

Batman: Arkham City – Review

initial impressions – very smooth animation. More then anything else I was amazed at how fluid the animation is – when he’s climbing, soaring, or fighting with handcuffs on… it’s fabulous to watch. The graphics are very nice as well, the lighting is a huge improvement, and ambient occlusion is especially apparent with all the dark shadows around. I’m still not 100% sure on the story, there is a lot going on, and it’s all very compartmentalized into a single building for a single purpose, no more so then Asylum was, but it’s more noticeable due to the open nature…

The Witcher 2

Some screenshots to start. Things I want to get into – graphical glitches (patch 1.3) – control / camera – why can’t I jump on this stump? There are two pictures of the puddle. I’m not really seeing it in the screenshots but his foot went through a 2D puddle and I could see his foot clearly underneath the puddle on the ground… not a big deal, but make sure all the ground around something is higher then the plane of the puddle. To be fair it’s at the start of the game, so hopefully they got better with the…

iCE for Grand Theft Auto IV and Episodes from Liberty City – Up Your Realism

I am a big fan of Grand Theft Auto. I’ve had every one since the original top view on PC. It’s not that I like stomping on babies… I just love crashing cars. I like demolition derby games too, so the added story and other tasks just make it all the better and with GTA III onward, I love the real word feel to it. You can just as easily drive along with traffic as weave through it trading paint with all the cars along the way. It’s always the best test of new hardware, and when a new one…

Dirt 3

If you’re a fan of racing games I highly recommend Dirt 3. I had a ton of fun with Dirt 2 – and it gets better (for the most part) with 3. Plus: + Graphics + Level Design + Better AI then Dirt 2 + Better Reward / XP System then Dirt 2 + Integrated YouTube to upload replays Minus: – The control feels a little looser then Dirt 2 – More arcade feeling IE: If you lose a tire, you should not be able to go another 3 laps and finish 3rd Overall I’d recommend it, but don’t pay…

Crysis 2 DX11 Pack Now Available

Crysis 2 DX11 “Ultra Upgrade” Pack Now Available! From NVidia’s GeForce.com When Crysis 2 hit stores on March 22nd it became Crytek’s first multi-platform game to be developed solely by their studios throughout the world. Because of the level of work required to ensure that all three versions of the game were equally as good, Crytek ultimately ran out of development time, preventing them from implementing planned DirectX 11 features before launch. Post release, the studio’s developers were free to focus only on the PC version of the game, and so for the past few months they have been beavering…

Now THAT’s Entertainment

Yesterday was a blockbuster Tuesday, if only for the release of the highly touted, much ballyhooed game, the shoe-in for best return from vaporware by a major motion video game. Yes, that’s right – Duke Nukem Forever (cleverly acronymn’d DNF – aka Did Not Finish) was released to the public. You may also have heard (meh, who am I kidding – no you haven’t) about Alice: Madness Returns which ALSO came out yesterday. If you remember playing the original back in 2000 – this is the effective sequel. American McGee has stayed true, and this updated title only complements the…

Video: FLATOUT Ultimate Carnage Gameplay 2560 x 1600

Yes, I do love me some FlatOut. I’ve always been a fan of the demolition racer genre and this franchise has been the only hope I’ve had the last few years. It’s great, just smashing racing, you get nitro for busting up opponents and the various things around the tracks, hit something and you’ll probably bounce off it, hit something dead on and you go through the windshield. It’s a great arcade bash-em-up racer. Oh yeah, and they ALWAYS make a PC version… and I’ve purchased, paid money, moolah, the flimflam… wait… no… given money for all of them so…

Windows 7 Game Explorer Manual Customization How To

Windows 7 Games Explorer Manual Customization How ToWindows 7 has removed the ability from Games Explorer to Customize out of the box. It’s not impossible to do, however – it just takes some finangling and registry knowledge. All of your Games Explorer shortcuts are stored here:%localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\GameExplorer If you have games installed you should see several folders with very long names that start with {######…}Each of these is the unique game ID used by Windows to synch the icons and commands that appear in the Games Explorer to the actual EXE that runs the game. Another Year or So…

This year’s birthday spoils:– iPod Nano– Novint Falcon– NFS Undercover– BF2142 Deluxe (for the living room PC) I ended up working half a day today, spent the 2nd half being productive and hanging out with the dog. I went and got my winter tires off the car, I think we’re safe for snow. If it comes now I just won’t go anywhere 🙂I spent that time waiting listening to my iPod – I was totally that guy in the store with the iPod on. I meandered around Home Depot, looking at some bathroom stuff, and I found a fence I…

Computer Land

So I’ve spent the weekend… well, I guess that could be extended to the past month, doing computer stuff. I placed the hardware order on December 31st (so I could include it in the business costs for 2008) and received them on the 7th or so. From there on it’s been computers, computers, computers. I upgrade my own to free up a power supply and memory for my new Media PC for the living room. I took all the old stuff I had and got a brand new media pc case for it all. It’s about the size (amazingly close…

GTA IV Performance

Here’s the same progression in GTA benchmarks. I didn’t have to do much work for this because GTA writes each benchmark to a separate txt file automatically. I pasted into Google Docs and made a graph of it all. The details are here but this is the graph:

It’s the Final Benchmark!

Ok, so after the dust has settled I’ve completed the Hard Drive externalization (technical prototype) and here are the past couple benchmarks: 2 x New Graphics Card + CPU New Graphics Card + CPU New Graphics Card New Motherboard Original Read em and weep.

Interestings

So I’m working from home today, collected a few tidbits durring my hours upon hours of meetings:There is still no concrete info on the Wii pole dance gameEA PR is spinning, Tech is confirming they suckEver wonder if your local sewage treatment is up to snuff? Holyoke’s isn’t.Kind of a dramatic image of an old Iraqi woman not quite the caliber of the Afghanistan girl from Time, but still powerful. *update* gotta hand it to MSN, they find some cool stuff, particularly Jott – a free service where you can dictate text messages.
