Things We Do to Windows In the Dark

I am a settings fiddler. I’m constantly optimizing, but there are a few things I do every time I face a new windows install. I figured I’d include some here to keep track of them and maybe help someone out in the process who might not know about some of these. 1.) Data drive – Always keep a separate data drive.  This used to be a partition of the main drive, one for the operating system, and one for the data.  This helps because Windows doesn’t always live forever, at least it didn’t used to but the latest UEFI booting…

Windows 10 Version. It has been a couple years for 10 so far, and I have apparently fallen out of practice with 10 due to using 7 at work… still  >_<  It took me far too long to figure this out this evening so here’s a reminder! Of course I have formed this opinion by the opening trailer alone. Despite having pre-loaded it, it will not launch. It did launch, but when…

Benchmarking Rumble! The 780ti 3G vs the 980ti 6G — both EVGA Classifies, who will win???

Ok, so we know who will win card on card, but what about in SLI? The extra memory is going to make scaling possible, rendering at much higher resolutions (4k? 5k?) and then scaling down for the display resolution of the monitor. Since my monitor was one of the earlier 120hz ones, I’m stuck with 1920 x 1080 but the 2 780ti in SLI have been MORE than enough, except… in VRAM. I am only now feeling the pinch with the draw distance of GTA V being the first indication. I regularly get upwards of 100fps with games cranked, and…
