Oh the woe. I really wanted AMD to powerhouse Intel out... they had their 15 minutes.
Again, I was with AMD when they got ahead of the trend back with the K6-2... then PIII came along and whump'd em.

They really better come back with some killer technology before I have to build my next PC.

I just read this article on the increasing hole in the ozone. You'll notice at the end it states "The CFCs have decreased since most countries signed a treaty in 1997 to reduce emissions". This is the Kyoto treaty. A well intentioned agreement between the world powers, of course it actually ammounts to no more then a .7% (I'll dig up the actual # so I don't miss-inform) reduction.

I just needed to comment on this very large stretch of an aticle. I realize it's a sensitive subject when people are thinking you're saying "the environment isn't worth saving". That's not what I'm saying through... I'm just saying that global warming is science's unicorn.

"A unicorn is a mythological creature, that car has been his "unicorn" - long sought but never captured" ~ (or something like that) Gone in 60 secconds
update - now that's gonna bother me, cause it ain't in IMDB. I guess they only have the good quotes not the stupid explanation. I couldn't find the line about "black lights in the 70s" either.

Yes, the infamous hole in the O zone. Well, they didnt' know it was there until they had satellites that could detect it. So how do we know the hole wasn't there all along?

    Josh !!
It's Matt. Sorry I have to leave you a message in this manner. I don’t have any other way of doing it. WoW! I dont even know where to start. Its been a really long time.. Reading your blog it looks like you are doing well for yourself. I see that RCN went to shit, like I didn’t see that coming. I was able to look at codebitch.org and see all the people I use to work with.. Makes me really happy to see pics from the past. If you have any of us and the group would you mind sharing them? Ive wondered from time to time over the past few years what you have been up to. I’m glad to see that you are working your way up in the world.. I have badly wanted to take the technical path myself. That’s my plan once im done with the Air Force. Im getting back into networking. I am working towards An MCSA right now. Well actually I’m trying to get the Air Force to pay for it.. then I can start on it. Shits expensive as hell for the classes. Where can I start .. Well first i can start from 2002. As you may or may not know.. that was the shittiest year ever for me ever... Rachel found someone else .. and dumped me. I had too many sick days due to my the mono I got .. So I had to quit RCN ( I actually loved that job ) I moved to Phil’s house for about 2 weeks to get out of the apartment I was in with Rachel.. I had to figured out what i was going to do with my life. I decided to go back home to Nantucket .. and see if i could start off fresh. I was a wreck for months and months on end.. I mean it man I was a fucking wreck. I didn’t know how Rachel could have done what she had with me. Now that I look back, maybe i could see why she did it. Maybe it was the kind of person I was. I don’t think she was ever faithful to me.. Anyway... that is how she was. I still don’t know the real reason why she left me. But Im pretty sure she was seeing this guy Brad while we were dating.. Anyway I was at the lowest point in my life (probably the lowest ill ever be (knock on wood)) I started working for a friend's dad.. And started making real good money. Things were starting to get a bit better. Anything was better then being drunk all the time. Then I got the news that Phil had died.. I remember going to his funeral.. and staying with Rachel (why i don’t know) If a fire burns you, you should know not to put your hand back in it. After the funeral was all said and done.. And I returned back home .. I of Corse I went into an even worse depression. (great story so far huh?) Any who .. I ended up getting back up on my feet thinking of what i would do next with my life. I wanted to run away from my past .. every bit of it. I tried to date .. but wasn’t ready (crazy how hurt you can get). I then met someone and decided to try a relationship out for a bit. Turns out I would have been a better friend with this person then boyfriend. Anyway at the end of 2002 I found myself desperate to get back into the world .. things were ok but not the way I wanted them to be. I then came up with the crazy idea to join the Air Force. I had always told myself that I would never join the military... I made one last ditch attempt not to join the Air Force. I submitted a resume the CIA. I told myself that if I was accepted then of course I would not join the Air Force, and I would have my dream carrier. Well guess what ?.. 45 days later with no reply (as I knew would happen) I went to a recruiter. I was told that I would leave mid 2003 for boot camp. That was fine with me. I moved to Burlington VT in the mean time to live with my girlfriend.. The one I would have made a better friend. I Knew that I would be leaving in no time, so I could do whatever I wanted anywhere and not have to worry too much about tomorrow. Anyhow .. I received a call in January and was told that I would be leaving the 10th of Feb for basic... skipping ahead.. Basic and tech school was hard but fun.. I have so many experiences and memories that I will never forget. I ended up going to the academy and became a Cop. After my schooling was done I was transferred from San Antonio TX to Buckley AFB CO. I’ve been here ever since. Im due out of the military in Feb.. I don’t want to reenlist. That is a last resort. Don’t get me wrong I love the military. I love the structure. I just cant deal being deployed all the time. I have a family. Plus you never know when they are going to ask you to relocate to another station. I want to work a 9-5 job again. My carrier field has manning issues. I work 13 hours in a 4 and 2 schedule. Its sucks. I could cross-train into com (computers) But I think a complete separation from the military is my best bet. Then I don’t have to worry about the what ifs. Granted you have those as a civilian anyway. I’ve been deployed to Al Udied AB in Qatar for 7 months.. that shit sucks. The first week I was here in Colorado met this wonderful woman. Her name is Monique (yes i know it sounds like a black chicks name. I assure you she is 90% Italian 10% white) anyway. I had my eye on her. I knew that she was the one .. This was in Jun of 2003. She didn’t pay much attention to me at first (so I thought) but after months of seeing each other at parties and at friend’s houses we started talking. Anyways to speed it up.. We later started dating.. And Got married in Aug of 2004. She is the sexiest, smartest, and most loving woman in the entire world. No one in this world can match her …no one. I know that I didn’t make a mistake in marring her. We just had our first born (holding off on others for a bit here. I only want 2:-)A boy in January. He's 7 months old now. He is the cutest baby in the world. Im not lying.. If I can figure out how to send pics to you I will. Life is great.. Im due out of the military in Feb .. so im networking with people trying to find a job. I have my resumes on dice.com and monster.com. I have received a couple of offers but cant take them b/c im still employed by the DoD. I would like to work for Northrop Grumman. that’s my goal right now. I want to stay federal so I can retire at 40. I don’t know. Im at that fork in my career. I have clearances and certifications that will go to waist if I don’t use them on the outside. I really badly want to be a System admin and work on networks, repair computers. Something along that path. thats what i love to do. Troubleshoot. That’s why im trying to get a MCSA Cert. I Still don’t have a degree. As I see it most places that ask for a degree will also say “or equivalent”. I think certifications are the way to go. Sorry if this entry is all over the place.. haha. I see you are due to get married next year? Conrad’s man. Marriage is the best thing in the world. Mind you, many people will say NO, NO, NO what are you doing. don’t get married.. I have no idea why people do this. Just because they got married to the wrong person doesn’t mean that you will. Pay no attention to retards like that. Im happy for you man. Glad you found someone that you want to spend the rest of your life with (threw thick and thin). Believe me .. There will be ups and downs. A tip … A Marriage is all about making sacrifices, and coming to a middle ground on things. Never go to bed angry at each other. Work things out no matter how long it takes. You will be one person not 2. :-) Enough on the lecture.. Congrats. I don’t know what else to tell you man. I miss you guys. I miss hanging out with you and everyone else. Things change of course. I do apologies if I ever was rude, mean, non-responsive to you. At the end there I started to get angry with you. I started to not like you. All over something I still don’t know what happened. One night I went upstairs to hang out with you and Rachel.. and yeah !! What i heard crushed me.. I went down stairs and was hysterical for a long time. I know we were not dating.. and i told her if she wanted to see others she could.. we were broken up.. But It hurt me bad hearing the "commotion" coming from your room. After that i hated you .. I didn’t know how you could do that to me.. I hope I didn’t treat you like shit. I can’t remember if I did or not.. All I know is it was stupid of me. Sometimes the saying is true “Bro's before Ho's”. Anyway. I just wanted to apologize for that, and give you the reason behind it. I have to get back to work ... let me know how to get a hold of you so we can chat. Talk to you later man .. Oh yeah and take care. Feel free to post this on your blog as a main not as a comment to the cat things … :-)

    Ahh contrair, mon ami.

This is for the purpose of being able to bring your "laptop" with you. I think it's missing a battery - but it's portable! It still has all the same connections, so when you bring your laptop over someone's house, you plug it into their TV with the top shut, the screen doesn't turn on... you have XBox 360 in a box!

I installed Vista RC1 last night, you can find the ISO here. You'll need to be a customer preview program member because it needs a serial #, but if you got Beta 2 when that was released you should be all set. RC1 installed much more smoothly, and has all the features, but is still missing some polish. It was a great preview and it's usable until 5/31/2007 (I'm assuming release date for Vista?)

Along with Vista came URGE, which after hearing the following advertised on Howard this morning, is apparently a new trend in media services - the internet: Akimbo - download service via Media Player or set top box

Last night was spent downloading oodles and oodles of music, for free. I've got a 2 week free trial to MTV URGE - a music service integrated with Windows Media Player 11 and Vista. [insert buzz here]

Here's how it works:
You pay for a subscription, and you can download whatever you want for free (like Napster) - unless it's a popular song (not sure if Napster does that).
For example: Nicole tried to download Rihanna - SOS but it was .99 just to download! It appears the main singles are sometimes .99, though not always. There were songs I'd consider very popular that just came out that were a free download. Even if there are some pay songs, most adjacent songs on the album are normally free to download.

The only reasoning I could find was that certain songs are popular, and in that case you have to pay extra. I don't agree with that philosophy, but maybe record contracts are to blame. I say either make them all free, or pay, but cherry picking the popular artists leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Even the free downloads will prompt you to pay for them if you want to burn them. You are allowed to move them to data CD/DVD or your music player but not burn them to an audio CD.

So for the next 2 weeks I'm going to enjoy all the obscure NIN, Johnny Cash, Hybrid, and other choice tracks I ravaciously downloaded, and record record record.

I went looking through my archives to see what I was doing that day. I remembered that I didn't have a blog at that time. Blogs were still relatively new, and I had just heard about it when I started the year before. I didn't start one earlier because I felt I just didn't have anything to say -- it just comes when you've got an outlet.

I really wanted to express myself that day, and didn't have an outlet, which led me to creating it later in the month. Here are several 9/11 posts which don't really seem to focus on the day. 2002 went by without a mention, 2003... today seemed really pivotal because I actually heard the rebroadcast of Stern while watching the rebroadcast of CNN -- exactly what I did that day. It all flooded back just like I did that day.

A lot of people called in to Stern afterwards to say thank you, and the general feeling was that it brought back the feelings. It's something that had began to fade, and it won't hang on as long as it may have in 2001, but we will still remember.

9/28 2001
I started blogging due to 9/11, I never actually wrote about it as it was happening though

9/10 2002
9/11 2002
9/11 2003

Haven't viewed this yet, and don't really believe it, but it's
another point of view.

Last month Nicole wrote about the tour de Holyoke:

That's the link to the RSS for my runs, any trip I take that I can map I will, and the RSS will update, so add that to an RSS feed to automatically get them!

You could also go old school "run of the mill HTML"
http://www.mapmyrun.com/view_route.php?

note, they are both split into two lines, combine them to go to the right site.
It's so I don't mess up the blog formatting until I can get somewhere to edit the hyperlinks

I've almost finished TunnelVision.biz for Nicole's brother. Once the main page is done, updates and additional info pages are quick to come. I want to make sure he's happy with the main page - then I'll add the others.

Too many times I've created the whole thing, then after changing the template I've had to go back and re-do each minor change manually throughout the rest of the site's pages.

There's one minor finishing touch I'll bring attention to: the translucent box to the left of the blog needs to go down a little further to match the bottom of the blog.

Well it's been a while. I went on vacation the 24th and apparently I disapeared.
We headed up to Vermont on Saturday to go camping at Ed's. Green River Resevoir may be next year, but we had a blast creating our own path up a mountain.
We camped up on top of Armstrong Mountain in Fletcher/Cambridge. It's not my brother's property, but real close by. It was higher then our previous site, and quite a bit more difficult to get to but it was a great spot.

We were up on the top of the mountain, and after packing down the ferns there was a great spot for the tent, fire, and plenty of drop wood.

We went up and down each day - being careful to return before dark, visiting my mom, brother, sister and her kids. One day we went over Smuggler's Notch and down the other side to the Ben & Jerry's factory. Nicole hadn't ever been so we took a tour. It was very short, but showed the production line and we got to try their newest flavor: American Pie. It was apply pie flavored with bits of crust mixed in. It was interesting, tasted great, and with the crust I thought I was eating apple pie a la mode.

Nicole also got to see cows being milked when we went to go pick up milk from the farm with my sister. She's buying local where possible, and I respect that but it's just not possible around these parts.

It was a really nice couple days. I'll post pictures (unless Nicole takes them) ;)
