Someone made the observation that the saying "a million monkeys at a million typewriters... shakespeare... yadda yadda yadda" is not very true to life.
Change "typewriters" to "keyboards" and you've got all the monkeys on the internet. I don't think anyone's produced any shakrespeare yet.
Hehe, internet people are monkeys. I'm a monkey. oooh ah, ooh ah.

I've got sound in XP 64... finally!
Checked ASUS.com for the driver, been soundless in WinXP64 for long enough, however -- nothing.
I then checked out Realtek.com and they had a new driver as of 02/05/05!
The cutting edge is sharp, but I love being on it ;)

I'm in the process of tracking down the exact location of the code that's causing the warning message that says something about code attempting to exploit your browser, yadda yadda.
In case anyone was wondering it's due to me attempting to post using Outlook.
Even in straight HTML mode, whenever I typed a URL it would make it "clickable" resulting in a whole bunch of bogus code throughout.
Now I've got to weed through it all.
Oh! I've also added an RSS feed. If you don't have
Firefox yet -- get it and you'll know what I'm talkin about. Just click the orange icon in the lower right corner.

I added a permalink of sorts to the blog template. Suggestions are welcome for the exact wording... or maybe a picture would be easier? Whats a universal "everything on top" icon?

Well, I have affirmed that the little scare I had yesterday was unfounded.
I stopped into Gap to get a few things, and visit with my previous co-workers. Kate was congradulatory, but had to stick in a bit regarding Travelers being bought by Met Life. She said something about 500 jobs would be lost in the process. It put a large damper on the mood, though Kate normally has a foot in the doldrums.
So I just found
this article regarding the Met-Life purchase of Traveler's Insurance, that's Traveler's Life -- which already spun off of Traveler's Property about 2 years ago. Traveler's Property then merged with St Paul. Met-Life's purchase is regarding the CitiGroup owned part. I don't know where the loss of jobs bull came from, possibly she just stuck that in there... either that or her Mom is involved with Life, which would make sense that she'd have heard about it.
So no Kate... there will be no layoffs, not here anyhow.

Mapping of a cat's brain.
So... I've been working here at Travelers for about a month and a half now.
I just was offered a job with Application Development. It consists of a little programming, some script editing, but mainly creating software solutions for the company. I shall be in charge of researching various software programs, when we can't make our own, purchasing those that fit our needs, and adapting them to the company's existing software solution(s).
I'm starting on Monday, while still working the weekends until they find a replacement.
I can't believe it, I'm at a loss at what to say. All I could say was "Thank you" when he offered me the job. I have a real job, and change made it all possible! If I never got laid off I wouldn't have retrained, I wouldn't have gotten the contract jobs doing networking, and wouldn't have gotten a referral to Travelers from CTC. So everything happens for a reason, and everything seems to be falling into place.
Now to read up on all these newfangled commercial servers and software solutions!

Turkey's MediaHere's a new program I wrote.
I'm back on the VB wagon, baby! In fact, I just used it to create the above links by simply pasting the URLs and writing a description.
Just fill out the fields, click the Go! button, then the Copy button, and paste into your blog, AIM, or E-Mail.
The trick here is that you need to do 6 at a time. Future improvements include:
Actual title in the titlebar!
Intelligent URL fields, it will only paste as much code as there are links.
The clear button will clear more then just the text box.
