iTunes has gone country. Jedd Hughes... I kinda like it. Not the type of song you can acknowledge positively in public. If it was on you might not say anything... simply letting it slide by in the background.
I'm in a music mode this evening. I found a few more CDs I thought I had lost, they were in my CD binder of all places. I'm adding them to the iMac. I've rated every song I've put on this thing (iMac, present... most used for terminal goodness) and need more music! It only plays the 4-Star, 5-star or Unrated songs and the list is getting thin: 6 hours 11minutes & 49secconds worth out of over 12 days worth. Half, I like half the music I have more then average =]
Isn't it amazing what iTunes can tell you about yourself?

A burst of summer, a last hurrah. It's damn hot. I'll take it though, glad to see another little reminder before we all slink back into the cold. For a few mornings it was certainly fall outside. I even brought a jacket with me one morning.
The end of classes are coming up, then I'll need to find a job to support myself with all my newfound knowledge. Unfortunately there really isn't much available, and even less if there's no certifications.
Things are going OK with the business, especially for just starting out. I finally have an image, have some customer base to work off of. I need to sell a few more systems, get some momentum going and I ought to be in a good spot.
Things are wide open in the apartment department, literally. Wide open house except for lil-olde me. I've got at least 1 person lined up and another hopeful for the first. That means I've got another month to get at least 1 more person once Scott's moved out. If there's 2 rooms open it's better as people are more apt to move in with a friend, they're more comfortable, and I've got 2 people. The listing is getting viewed, so I can only hope the rest of the places are full, and everyone has to call me. =]
I'm not exactly at peace, but things ought to improve. If my karma serves me right, I'll be alright. My brother says to stop worrying, and start thinking how it's going to happen. That's very similar to the Wiccan belief of visualizing yourself where you want to be, and the energies will make it happen. My brother's more about the yoga and meditation where you visualize where you want to be, and you make it happen. Either case supports the theory, and regardless, it can never happen your way if you don't visualize it first.

URG, many tribulations. New site. It's the offical launch of the new business, and it even matches the business cards!
A theme is very important, and the theme here is quality craftsmanship, a promise set in stone. I will be more permanant then most are used to in the computer business because I build it right. These systems are built to last 2 to 3 years and give many hours of enjoyment in the meanwhile, all the while maintaining upgradability.

Got a camping trip planned for next weekend. Should be a lot of fun, we're borrowing my brother's kayaks as thats the only way to get to the camp site(s). Nothing more relaxing then a weekend in the VT wilderness =]
I need it, I need to get away from this hectic, crap-filled city, if only for a weekend.
There's something about this area, anyone raised in this city has a certain vibe. The sense of humanity is there, but only in phantom form. They'll do anything to survive, and it's every man for himself.
My trip to VT 2 weeks ago was refreshing, a good reminder of how things ought to be, and how this place just isn't.

Lot of interesting developments as of late, I could go into writing books from these experiences... this is good stuff.
So have some nice exhibits, privately posted info right now, but send me an email or call me and I'll point you to the yet to be unveiled URL =]

I finally got my Doom3, legitimately. I've been playing a bit of deathmatch. It's somewhat interesting, the tournament mode is where it's at -- only two people play at a time, others queue up and play the winner. The server responds well, and you get to rest inbetween matches while seeing how well the other people play. It's such a detailed game, just watching the people pull out their guns, sneak around corners, and set up traps with the shadows is quite entertaining.
When I went to my Dad's to pick up "my birthday present" it was quite the experience with the step-mom. I suppose it ought to be called the "Doom Visit". It was harsh. She was in rare form, disagreeing with me about everything, especially all the computer knowledge that she thinks she knows. She rattles off terms, and that may work for my father, but I'm not impressed, you don't even know what you're talking about, you're speaking gibberish.
Whenever I'm talking to my dad all I hear about is how he has no money because she's not working, things are hard, yadda yadda yadda... then when we're talking about getting his computer upgraded, she has to have all the same upgrades on her machine, even more "because I'll be working with pictures". You haven't worked with pictures yet, you're full of crap... and why do you need all the same stuff as him? Jealous much? You're not pulling your weight, would take at least a horse or two to do that... once you start working, or manange to bambooze the government into giving you a check -- then you can talk.

Oh man. I really hoped this would work out well, all it did was sketch me out.
I had a meeting with the guy who called me about the apt. "My father works at STCC" the only place I had posted, sounds good. However, none of his info matched up. Names, addresses, all over the place - 4 different residences between Springfield and W.Springfield, from phone numbers to addresses he gave me, no one source matches with another. To top it off the contact nbr he gave is right at the end of Anthony Rivera's old street. To refresh your memory, he's the one who is responsible for the disappearance of my laptop and xbox, and why I am doubtful of humanity to this day. Ok, maybe one has nothing to do with the other but if he's not up front with me about this shit who knows what else he may lie to me about.
His job is doing odd-jobs for hire "rent-a-spouse", it's legitimate, but not really steady. I have to feel good about someone to let them live here, I've ignored my gut too many times. 1 month and counting.
So that's out, nothing to do but wait for prospective students to call. STU-dents. Students.

Worried about downloading using P2P yet? PeerGuardian says you don't have to. 100% accuracy, 0% CPU usage, and blocking of ALL protocols at the kernel level.

I just got back from VT. It was a good time. I stayed with my Mom and got to see the nieces and nephews, and sister. and went kayaking on Saturday with my brother down the Lamoile River in Fairfax VT. It was about a 4 mile stretch, and the river was high. It was a great time. =] We stopped by the church in Fletcher, climbed to the top inside and wound the church clock. A masterful piece of machinery - it was probably from the 1800s and had a separate windup for the clock and for the chime. I wound up the weight for the bell, a large wooden rectangle full of rocks and brick from long ago and added my name to the ranks of clock-winders, some from as long ago as 1915 that we could see.
The giant Phish show was going on this weekend. 70,000 were on the permit, 32,000 got there before they started turning everyone away -- ticket or no. There was mud, lots of mud... the evening news was hurricane and phish show, accidents and phish show, phish show and weather. =]~ It's amazing how little happens up there, it's so different.
I'm hoping to head back up in a couple weeks to check out a camping site only accessible by kayak. =]

We got to NH about 9 or so, and got where we were going - NH State Forest, about 10:30. By 11 my tent was set up and I was relaxing by the fire.
We woke early, made some eggs, bacon, various other snacks for breakfast, and headed off to go hiking up Mt Sugarloaf. We decided we'd bring some beers and meat to cook, along with the stove, and a few packs worth of supplies. Justin, Aaron and I were heading the pack, we carried a lot of the stuff to start, so we could pass it back later on. At one point we were running up the mountain, vaulting from rock to rock I shimmied up the "rock steps" section.
At the top we relaxed for a bit, cracked open a few beers, and enjoyed the view. We started the grill, made up some meat, and chilled. A few other people climbed to the top behind us, a few gave us a weird look but we weren't really in their way. We were a bad example to their children, however -- our mountain too, beeeauch!
After running up, cooking, eating & drinking at the top, then running down I felt like I could do anything. I wanted to run more. I wanted to do more! We stopped back at the camp, it had rained a little so we warmed up by the fire and finished pumping up the boat. We then headed down to the river after we ate some more hamburgers.
A little 8 foot Coleman raft, we had 3 people on it at one point. We'd run down a couple hundred foot section of pretty good rapids, bouncing off the rocks, bracing ourselves for the quick turns and bucks. I went down a couple times, everyone took at least a turn. It was a lot of fun, it was kind of dangerous but not enough to really worry about it.
It started to rain shortly after, everyone retired to their tent, but in most cases they had someone to retire with. Justin and I stayed up and hung out for a while until I went to bed shortly after everyone else was waking up from their naps. =] They continued to play asshole a bit more, not sure what time everyone got to bed, but apparently Justin wasn't the last one up either because come morning, 9 am to be exact, we were awoken.
The ranger stopped by and had some citations for us. There was trash on the ground, trash in the fire, food left out, and various other items. It could have been $250 + $100 + $200 or something ridiculous like that, but we ended up getting out of it with a $50 fine. Split 8 ways it wasn't too bad. We all chipped in, about $5 a piece -- well worth the price of a camp site for the weekend.
We stopped by Hampton Beach on the way back for an hour or so, hung out, caught some rays, played some frisbee. I even saw my first example of sexual harassment towards a male by females. Aaron, Justin's stacked younger brother was shirtless (as one should be at the beach) and tossing the frisbee when I heard someone shouting: "We like the top, now show us the bottom!" as the car full of girls cruised by. My jaw dropped, had never seen that happen before ;) Amazing.

Windows XP SP2 (Network Install Package) Run at the command prompt with sp2-yaddayadda.exe -x to extract to directories. This will allow you to install over a network to multiple machines, or simply get past a lot of gobbledygoop associated with the windows update (if you're using an invalid key, for example).
So download and enjoy! (thanks to Scott for the link)

Rent situation getting more convoluted.
I have 2 messages saved from house mate.
1 right after it happened "I'll get that money to you, it's not fair to you" 1 today after I suggested "just give me $150, add that to the security deposit and we'll call it even to the end of the month." Her msg was "I don't think it's fair that I should have to pay that $150, $300 in theory (combination of the security plus the 150) twice."
What bothered me was that: - she agreed to my face, then called me a little while later (my phone was in the car) to retract - I called her back a little bit after that and she didn't answer - she said exactly opposite of what she said before
I gave very precise reasons in my msg as to why this was not my doing. Things like rent you don't just leave, unless it's expected and you know to look for it as previous arrangements have been made. You make sure the person gets it.
So that's it, we'll see where it goes from here .:sigh:.

Oh man am I pumped up right now.
I'm ready to go off on someone. I'm hoping this doesn't turn out how I think it's going to... I can only hope for the best. I'm guessing it goes either: a) the rent money which allison said she left for me is not there because she is lying b) the rent money which allison said she left for me is not there because her friend gutter took it. c) she's moving out, so I'm all the more suspicious-er.
...and why would her friend call me last night looking to find someone to buy something he was planning on stealing? ...and why wouldn't she have told me she put it there "a few days ago" that's not something you let lie around, and this is after you told me everything was still on track when I asked about rent a week ago. What the hell! And why all these hoodlums hanging out at the local gas station since the transvestite has taken the position of clerk? I'm very upset, this is not what I want.
I'm sick of lyers. I want to just hit them with a large thing that's as blunt as their lies... and as sharp and sneaky as all the ones that aren't so blunt. Yeah. Bastards.
Jay says "It all happens for a reason" but then again, he just got a call back from that engaged 19 year old waitress... what is up with that...?
Updates to: FinishLineGFX.com tonight.

Very cool stuff, just not quite sure about the inserted text here and there... check it out.

I just built a new computer: 2.4ghz P4 512k cache 400mhz bus, 8X AGP 256mb DDR Ram @ 400mhz DVD+/-R Combo (CDRW) Drive Onboard Ethernet/Sound 40 Gig HD
I put in a mediochre video card, far less then it deserves... but all in all I'm able to sell it for $400 A little bit more money could result in a gigabit ethernet card, a high quality sound card, or a rockin' 3D card for games or 3D modeling, and maybe even some more memory.
This is a perfect computer for back to school, and in fact that's what I built it for. A girl at GAP is going back to college and needed a computer. We were in the back shootin the shit and I mentioned I might be able to make one for pretty cheap. I guessed $300, not quite... but it only ended up being $100 more.
The best part about it is that it looks cool. It's a black tower with silver/blue shimmering drive bays, a silver box with digital temperature readout, light pillars with bubbles on each side of the front, and a window with colored fan on the side. It's got all black drives (3.5 & DVD) and the "light pillars" are blue at the top, and the colors cycle on the bottom from yellow to red, blue to green.
Laura saw it and was all impressed, so that made me happy.
This was such an easy system for me. I pretty much threw it together and had Windows running on it within 3 hours. Everything went together first shot, I did everything in order, and didn't make any dumb mistakes. In spite of the 90 degree temperature, I even managed not to sweat on any of the parts, stopping to mop my brow every now and then.
So now I am burning it in. Literally. I'm ripping a DVD, will run DVD-Shrink to get it to fit on a 1-layer disc, then will attempt to burn it.
I think my DVD burner might be dead. It keeps giving me I/O errors. =( It's a Sony 500A from about 2 years ago. It cost me $300 at the time, but now they're dirt cheap. At the show I saw a dual-layer burner (NEC?) for $179, and bought the 4X +/- R Burner in the above system for only $75. I've burnt a lot of DVDs, CDs... and it's also been really hot lately. I'm not sure what the problem is exactly, but it makes me sad. .:sigh:.
Quitting Relay has paid off thus far -- I had 14 hours last week of straight computer work. For (get this) Adam's Family Funeral Home ;p and some awning place in West Springfield, which interestingly enough happens to do business with Finish Line Signs & Graphics in Springfield whom I did the web site for. FinishLineGFX.com There's a picture of one of their awnings in the (oooh, can you guess?) the awning section.
We set up a wireless network at one place, cleaned off some spywire, malware, itsybitsy sneaky ware, and enabled him to access the accounting and payroll software from any computer in the place.
At the other we updated their network to 100mb, put XP on one computer, and left the others as is in the interest of saving them some hours. As it was we backed up over 5gigs and set up ICS with their... dialup... connection... and set them up with a central place on the server machine to store all the employees files so they could be backed up with a drag to the CD Drive.
So it was good experience, it was fun, and much better pay then Relay =]
Man, it's been a while since I had a chance to sit down at the computer and all this stuff comes into my head while I'm sitting here.
I was supposed to go camping this weekend in NH with Justin. 2 people canceled, which would have left just the 3 of us, thus it was decided we'd try for next week. I'm in luck, I have no work next Saturday... or this entire week for that matter. So I'll be going next week. I will make sure to remember my sleeping bag this time, however... as it was the only thing I forgot when I was all packed to go on Friday =]
I plan on using this week to focus on school, my partner just had a death in the family so there probably won't be any jobs this week. It's just MCSE until NH.
K, that's it. I'm going to bed. =]
