I kept hearing about the Blue Moon. I'd heard about it before, but never really knew what made it a "Blue Moon". Thus the searching began: According to modern convention, a "blue moon" is the second full moon in a calendar month. However, researchers for Sky and Telescope Magazine have recently determined that the Maine Farmers' Almanac originally established a different definition of the term in 1937. According to the Maine almanac, a blue moon occurs when a given season has four full moons instead of the usual three. In this case, the third full moon of the season is considered the "blue" moon. Whichever interpretation of the term is used, the reason it is called a "blue moon" is odd logic: a) the Moon appears blue in color very rarely, b) two full moons in one month (or four in one season) is also a rare phenomenon, so, c) when a second full moon occurs in a single month (or when four occur in a single season), we have what is known as a "blue moon." posted @ 15:42 post://109129969263962015/ Well I'm not in the White Mountains as I'd planned this weekend. I hope to do it next week, I have no hours next week at GAP, so no issues there ^-^ We'll have a lot more people able to go, too. 15-20 VS 5 =] In the meantime, I'm working on a wedding CD for friends -- normalizing the various volumes. It's all done, Mac did it instinctively -- as it comes out of the box with SoundStudio. Out of the box 2 years ago, even. I haven't updated past 10.2 yet, and the iMac doesn't get upgraded. That's ok though, she's searving me well in the meanwhile, and still going strong at a nice even 1Ghz. It's a good CD -- awesome selection of tunes from all eras. Unrelated: Check this out. posted @ 14:43 -x- (0) comments
I quit relay yesterday. I had my... Reasons to Quit: My back hurt because of their shitty chairs (which were old last time I worked there) Could be earning much more money doing computer jobs. Didn't have time inbetween calls to read my book, will have more time to study. Particular call was frustrating. Had to work Fri & Sun nights, effectively castrating my summer. Stayed through training, a corporate gimme My chance to quit for a non-administrative reason. Reasons to Stay: Money It was easy It didn't take me long to decide. posted @ 13:51 -x- (0) comments

As I'm cursing my being so busy, the fact that I hardly get a rest, and fearing the impending workload from my exams I get this: A mind always employed is always happy. this is the true secret, the grand recipe for felicity. ~ Thomas Jefferson I realize it's true. I do this to myself, make myself incredibly busy for when I am idle my mind turns towards itself. Introspection is fine in small doses, but I would rather be doing something else, and thus fill my free time to the brim. Now if I can only stop having such interesting dreams, I can cut down on the ammount of sleeping in and get more free time. I had such a whacked out dream today, I couldn't help but see how it turned out. I was in a run down neighborhood, it looked a lot like my old place in Indian Orchard. An old aquaintance was there -- Heather from Warren. She had brought her friend and their 15 friends, the people who normally hung around their old place. The kind of people that are fun, don't have any money, and don't look like they'll ever get any. They're good people by heart, except when they lie to get money or food because otherwise they'd starve. If you're on their side, you'd OK, and they've got your back... in other words. So that was the only reason I was somewhat tolerant of these people. There was so much chaos, all these people talking and being comfortable in my house who I didn't know... I couldn't get to Heather and ask her what the hell was going on. She looked... a little different, had a mini-goatee, a soul patch... but it didn't make her look like a man, it was more a wizard quality? =]~ Apparently my house what the only place that she knew she could go because her friends were targeted by some big gang just because they had been irreverant and... themselves, to these tough gang-members. Most of them had nothing to lose for most of their life, this was just the final "whoops" that might be the deciding factor. So there was a semi-noble cause. I didn't want to send these people to die... they seemed like good kids, but I couldn't very well support them all. I had no confidence or trust in them, and there was becoming an ever-increasing probability of becoming a target every moment they remained here. When things got hot, I bailed, I told them all to leave. I had to put forth a physical effort in the realm of dreams, like when you tell yourself to stop falling, or reach the point of lucidity. posted @ 14:03 -x- (2) comments

It looks good right now, and it's a service related business so little to no start-up, and plenty of clientelle. It's fixing computers but it sure sounds like I'm starting up a Hooker-for-hire. =]~ posted @ 13:10 post://108964979875399047/ My landlord loves to make things hard for me. He comes over, tells me how many checks they've bounced, how they need money blah blah blah. I only owe you $60 still, man... and that's only because you got greedy and needed an extra $50 a month a few months ago. So where's the contract that you want me to sign to cover your "overdraft" when I need it? Wheres the contract to keep my rent from going up? From keeping you from coming over and pounding on my door, huh? Take my car payment, and bring that god damn computer over so I can put in the fucking modem already, I'm sick of hearing about it. .:sigh:. If someone's got... oh I don't know... like $300 they could let me borrow... ? Till next week? No, not really. I'm sure I'll find a way, I just don't like not paying my car payment. You know how those bank people are... I just wish I could get a little notice, a week would have done, preferably before I went and paid those other bills. They didn't really need to be paid just yet... and I'd have the money I need. I can't manage what I don't have... I think I've written that money is the source of all evil, but I think that's only when I don't have any. posted @ 12:21 -x- (0) comments
