Whoa --
Another amusing evening at Alibis.
Splitting headache.
I didn't drink enough water. After drinking bud light for the past week the good beer (bass, killians) had a bit more of a kick, as well as a dehydrating effect as alcohol tends to have.

Would you really want your face on booger.com?
I hate sleep, it always comes at the most inopportune times. Like now I should be sleeping and I can't. I just keep thinking about all the wonderful things my dad kept going on about as we were driving in the truck, bringing home my new easy chair.
First about the chair: It's a Lane, about 13 years old and comfy as ever. I'd go sleep in it now, I'm sure I'd fall right asleep -- but I'd never wake up for class.
About those things: My Father's convinced that Democrats are the evil force behind corruption and all the problems plaguing society. I'm convinced it's the Republicans who are more apt to go all mega-evil, corporation-style. He uses words like Socialist and Communist. I use words like Capitalist and (haven't yet, but it seems to go) Fascist.
All the goings on he kept going on about were so down-trodden. If I went solely upon his example and what he says (how I used to be) I'd be one sad puppy... and I was for a while.
I won't touch on the whole "optimism through absolution" via the whole Hospital Experience.
But in doing a search on past entries for "hospital" I came upon this one.
I was surprised that was the only entry I could find searching for "hospital" or "operation". I could have sworn I'd written about it before. Thought I'd beaten a dead horse. Guess that's something for the future, but of course I noted that here too.
One of these days I'll put a "Main" link on the site here... so that you can backtrack from links such as the above, until then lets just hope your back button will suffice, and if that doesn't -- there's always refresh, or a good ol:

I remember something along the lines of "Adult Swim" about 5 years ago. I still lived with my Dad then, caught it here and there... and now it's blossomed into a whole half-network. After 10 or so every night, maybe 11 -- The Cartoon Network becomes: Adult Swim.
If you've yet to catch it, check out The Cartoon Network some night after 11. Not Saturday though, I don't like it on Saturday as there's a lot of dubbed anime with robots and such. No dubbed anime for me, bad voice acting can ruin it easily.
So watch Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Family Guy, Futuramma, Sealab 2020, and especially Harvey Birdman. Based on Hanna Barbara cartoons, Harvey Birdman is an attorney who's usually defending some famous cartoon character who is way out of character.
Adult Swim -- watch it, and don't get eaten by exotic fowl.

Want to play Grand Theft Auto 3/VC online?
If you haven't heard of NESticle you're in luck! It's the best NES emulator out there, and I'm hoping to use it once my NES games are done downloading.
I had a dream last night about tenticle creatures, a gigantic battle... and it all took place in a sweet warehouse HQ with stream running through the middle, decorated Kahunaville style.
Craziness.

I have done the unthunkable:
AVI to DVD, even PAL to NTSC.
Buffy S7 - AVIs
WinDVD Creator (WinDVD Suite)
DVD-R
I popped 2 AVIs on the disc, with plenty of room to spare but not enough for a 3rd. They were the wrong aspect ratio (all squished).
I modified the "filter" on the video, scaled it 100% by 78% and it corrected the squishie and made black bars to give the correct aspect ratio.
Additional options include ability to crop time, handy for cutting out the "last time..." flashbacks and credits to save space.
It's very versatile, and worth every penny - WinDVD Suite. I got it free with an Asus Motherboard, but I'm sure it's out there.

Welcome to the newest realty show.
NBA Draft: 8 Young Men - Watch what happens when 8 young men, straight out of High School are interviewed left and right by a media deluge shouting "money, money, money!" After being drafted they're "guaranteed to be worth at least 11 million over the next 2 years" and thus draw all this media attention. Did something change? Are they able to go straight from High School now? I've never heard of this before, and the media is going nuts about the money these boys will be getting. Where the poor guy might try and talk about how dedicated he was going to be, the interviewer would bring up money again, no matter what the guy said, it was always back to money. It's exploitation, these guys speak very poorly, spend very foolishly (brand new Range Rover & "What does this new Range Rover represent to you?"), and the media is eating it up -- essentially proving their own point: that they're too young for this.

Things you'll need:
Windows 98+ Computer (no mac/linux)
SonicStage software
Recording Software (ex. SoundBlaster Recorder)
iTunes
1. Go to www.connect.com to get the software.
2. Download desired track.
3. Open recording program.
4. Set "recording source" to WAV, MP3, ex. "What U Hear"
5. Hit record, then play on the desired SonicStage track.
6. Once you've got the track recorded, hit stop. You'll find the .WAV file in your recording program's recording folder.
(ex. C:\Program Files\Creative
\SBAudigy\Recorder\Recordings)
7. Open the recordings folder.
8. Open iTunes.
9. Drag and drop the WAV file into your iTunes Library.
10. Make sure the iTunes options are set to create MP3s, not AC4 files.
11. Right click on the file and choose "convert to MP3"
12. Delete the original WAV to save space.
It's the old "taping the radio" trick with an extra processing step to get it back to MP3. It's an analog recording of a digital playback and as long as your recording levels aren't too high (feedback, distortion) you'll get a near-perfect copy without it ever leaving your computer.

Ya'know, I really love my computer =-]
I heard the commercial on the radio, get a big mac, get a free download. Well sure, I'm game. I downloaded Sony's "Connect" software (connect.com) and entered the code. The software is about 8 different modules all working together to make sure you are downloading and playing legitimately. I have the software running in the background and after being unable to "readily" burn a MP3 CD (I'm out of CD-Rs, and it doesn't seem to recognize my burner), I have resorted to outright piracy.
Yes you heard me correctly. I'm playing the song via the super-secret SonicStage player, and recording via the recording program that came with my soundcard. I'll then take the newly recorded WAV and encode it to MP3 using iTunes with no signal loss. At the very least I may need to adjust the volumes so there is no distortion, but other then that I've got a straight digital copy without it ever leaving my computer.
A person used to have to have all sorts of sound equipment and wires in order to do this. =]
One Big Mac well spent.

So I'm off on Vacation -- kind of. Unfortunately it's not like a real vacation -- I have to start it with my Mom's retirement party.
It gets better after spending the following day running my mom's tag sale I'll be headed out to Framingham.
Tracy's friend Rachel is going to be having a party that night.
Then on Sunday we're going to be headed down to Foxwoods. I haven't ever been. I'm kind of afraid of bringing too much money, but what if I win? I think I'll stick to $100 and leave it at that. If I end up losing all of it, I'll know I'm not to be gambling ;)
So I'm about to shower, pack, and be on my way.
Things are going to start to get interesting. Once my mom moves to VT, it's the end of an era. She's going to be retired, and far away. It's not like I visit her all that often, but I've been pretty good about seeing her regularly. It's probably going to mean some more trips up to VT.
Her condo is like 20 minutes away from Smuggler's Notch, so maybe I'll get a season pass and possibly even get better at snowboarding this winter ;) It'd be nice to have a place to sleep, then can jump right on the highway. It's about a 2-3 hour drive, so it's not really close... but certainly doable.
I wonder if I'll have to see my Dad more? It's stressful to visit him. He's always trying to show how just and perfect his mormon ways are. All I see is a person who made some poor choices and isn't exactly happy, or in a better place because of them.

He was looking to have a bill introduced that allows prents equal rights to children unless one is proven unfit in accordance with blahbitty blah blah. I read it myself, and seems to be a good idea. It makes me wonder what the current phrasing is.
With the current laws, do mother's get precidence over fathers?

So there I was... surrounded by mulletted men, or at least they should have been. Godsmack abound, with about 4 HipHop songs in a row... then "bullet hits the bone" not even sure who it's by... but hair metal for the rest of the night. We headed to Breakers to get away from it, and there was just way too much of an issue there. Everyone who goes there is married, and usually with the spouse. I was warned by a friend who happened to be there the seccond I stepped on the dancefloor. "OK -- I'll keep that in mind."
I did my first drive-by of the Northend hoping to pass out some business cards tonight for FinishLineGFX.com but there was no such luck. I didn't have a pretty girl with me, and I didn't want to sit down there as it was really really sketchy all around. I'm not even sure about next week when Collette, Jamie, & her boyfriend are supposed to head down there with me. It's supposed to be Friday, but I'm just not even sure what to do. It's all very ethnic, very not me... I have business reasoning to be down there but it still feels like I'm getting myself into trouble. If only because of what I'm "showing off", how very white I am, and the fact that my urban-social skills are just not up to par.
I am hoping to get a little insight from my aquaintance that I happened to run into tonight @ Breakers. I work with him @ GAP, and he seems to think I'm pretty hot shit, but completely incompatible with his crowd. He's got friends who will follow people home to strip their cars, so at least I know I'm on the good side of a potentially dangerous thing. I just would hate to accidently put myself on the bad side.
How to maintain... how to maintain...?
So I ended up being in charge of getting this girl "Michelle?" home -- I didn't want to cock block, and didn't... just gave her an out. She revelled in the attention until the last minute, then we left. I gave her a ride home to meet up with her very drunk friend... dropped her off. I was thanked for "getting a girl home safely" and then I was outie.
It was certainly an interesting night.

I was looking at the last entry thinking I needed to add "I think" here and there.
I learned in gradeschool not to write that way. If you're writing an essay, at least, anyone reading it should expect all the views to be your own unless you explicitly state fact with evidence to back it up. Or quote someone else's opinion. You don't need to add "I think" or "I believe" but you do need to clarify that it's opinion -- or else you look like Michael Moore.
There's a man who never learned the difference between "fact" an "opinion". Editing is a glorious thing, isn't it Michael?

Who would have thought -- Cops in Russia, taped in Moscow and Leningrad.
It's interesting if only to see the conditions in which they live. With the influx of immigrates from Russia to the surrounding area as of late, it's applicable to me as far as being aware to what they may be coming from. I can't say I've had an involved enough conversation with any Russian immigrants thus far to see exactly where they're immigrating from but this at least gives a good look at Moscow and Leningrad. So far it looks very 80s, are rubles even still used?
It's a different cops then I'm used to seeing, I'm riveted. The cops are a bit rougher, and so far it seems that any murder suspects simply wait to be caught. They don't try to go anywhere, they may move the body, but otherwise they wait.

Every time I miss class it seems to be due to a dream. I fall back asleep and have the most interesting dreams, and Fitzi usually ends up snuggling -- so it's a double whammy not to get up ;)
I was at an outdoor party, in a field. There were crates of soda, big plastic molds of turtles and other animals (for tracing?), and clothes. The music was bumping, I was having a good time... I had a turtle mold and it got put under some crates that were holding up the turntables. I thought "OK -- that's cool, I'll just get them at the end of the night."
Well -- I never got them in time, I caught them after they had already moved the turntables inside and my turtle was nowhere to be found. There was also an issue with a vendor losing their shirts from behind the wall. People had pulled off a panel and had been stealing shirts all night. I felt sorry for the girl responsible for selling them.
It was a weird dream, at the end of the night a lot of people jumped into the "karaoke bus" a Grayhound bus with TVs and microphone. The guy in front of me was singing, however, but the sound came from the bus itself. It was "the old hiphop bus song" which doesnt' really exist, but it was rather involved and this guy knew all the words. It sounded very old school... I guess I made it up, but I never know with these dreams. There's way too much detail sometimes =]
There really wasn't a point other then me losing my turtle mold, and the t-shirts.
Oh! At the end there were snow capped hills and sleds, the guy I was racing tried to drive a taurus that was on the side of the hill... he was going to barrel it down the hill -- but since he couldn't start it he just grabbed a sled. I won, but only because he never really moved when someone shouted go, he came down slowly afterwards. I had a fun little ride down the hill.
Odd, very odd.

Before there was Izzo, there was Iddig. It's basically the same idea, add the first distinguishable syllable(s) to -iddig and be able to say it quickly. It sounds unintelligible until you listen to it carefully -- then you can pick out the syllable(s). As far as I know it originates in the NJ area. I was first introduced to it about 3 years ago.
It's a memory from Phil R. and Jess times, right about when I first came to the area and worked at Relay. It hit me as I was about to fall asleep, and it was one of those memories that I didn't want to possibly lose.
We were hanging out in Phil's basement and he was talking about "Iddig". He was able to teach Jess pretty well, but I never quite obtained the linguistic skill needed to perfect the technique. I'm able to rattle off some phrases pretty well now, so maybe I could do it again if I tried -- I wonder if Jess remembers how to do it?
That was one of those things that made Phil unique.
At any rate, I'm hoping to propagate the Iddig in response to Izzo.
Do it for Phil.
