It's amazing, ghost-like forces assaulted a close friend!
Why do the walls come in when things are going so well!
Oh friend, I wish there was something I can do.
Impotent in the face of paranormal visages, wielding, threatening, stop it all!

Went to Hooters tonight. Intended to surprise Jamie, but Jamie wasn't working after all. Oh well, met up with some peeps and ate some wings. Chow munga!

Gotta work on Saturday. I wonder if people will still be going by 10pm?

I feel like eating some wings before bedtime. A little wings, a little DuckTales... yeah... I cave.

Blogger is showing their true Google side - their sponsored ad-area is now displaying an "exclusive" GMail invitation. A "yes" will bring you to the referral page, a "no" simply lets you know that the ad will "be there for a while in case you change your mind".
In case you're not aware, and tempted by the 1Gig of storage:
GMail is a voluntary service, which by using you agree to
  • Let all email sent and received through the account be part of Google's searchable database

  • let all your email remain in the database, even if deleted

Sounds pretty daunting, but if you're the adventurous type with nothing to hide... go for it, and tell me how it is ;)

~ CNN reporter regarding millionaire host of Apprentice-like show publicly criticizing Donald Trump for "plastering his walls with posters of himself, and constantly reminding everyone else around him what an obscene amount of money he has." on his web log. Today proved to be more interesting then usual:
I was working 9-6:30 today, backroom stuff @ GAP -- unloading shipment & prepping the new summer line for the floor.
It was lunch that was interesting. I had walked over to UNOs to get a beer and a steak and watch the game on the bigscreen. I sat down, ordered my beer to a decidedly slow bartender. I mean: she was horrible. I struck up a conversation along the way about my T-Mobile service with a guy at the bar. A large Slavic fellow with a rough accent, he mismatched words in a fully understandable fashion and was quite knowledgeable about his service and the features available VS Europe. He had some European (specifically Poland) friends with the service there. Apparently T-Mobile is a German-based company.

The bartender wasn't the usual, she was absent most of the time, and bitter. Everyone asked where the usual was -- she was even heard to say how she never gets any money on a Sunday. I don't think she'd have an issue with that if she was mildly competent.
Besides the point: I got into quite the discussion with this guy, it was a good feeling. I've seen it done, haven't been able to do it. I gave him my card and everything (for CGSystems.biz), mainly so that he could refer me to his friend who does Dish Network installs. They're independent contractors, almost all of them -- and I could do the internet facet of the dish installs, even be able to set up the actual computer as I'm *ahem* A+ certified. .:beams:.
(step 1 of many, I've been a slacker since)
So that's a possibility -- he said he'd text me, we'll see what happens.

I've had good luck of late, so maybe this is another opportunity, everything about today just seemed to fit. The day was beautiful, there was a new person at work who knew about graphic arts stuff, and was a bit embarrassed about their love of techno, the game was on at the bar (makes for interesting people)... oh! I almost forgot -- someone swiped my pizza, 35 minutes later I'm looking for my 15 minute pizza and the bumbling bartender says 'someone swiped it'. Doesn't matter -- gimme pizzza asap. I got the pizza 15 min before I had to be back, took it to go, got it for free, and got out of there with a beer and a pizza for $6 (incl tip). Beaming from that, I remembered a friend's advice.

Today was a good day. I had to work, I'm tired as shit, it's 11:30 -- and I'm going to bed, but I feel good. =]

Bud Light goes down way too easy. I bought a 24 pack on Friday to help with the party. I was the only one drinking it, everyone else was fully supplied. Imagine that, no need for any more beer at a party...
So I brought the rest home and still have a few cans left. I swear it may be light, but it's so easy to drink it stretches the stomach when you've consumed it at a 3:1 time ratio to normal beer.

For the record: I hate Bud Light, but it does contain alchohol...

I've had the power to reduce DVDs all along... I just didn't know it. I'd been working with DVDDecrypter from Doom9.org for a while to make DivX, but never got the hang of re-authoring them. I had used DVD Shrink before (also @ Doom9) but never figured how to make an ISO. DVD Decrypter had the ability all along, it was simply a different menu option. Imagine that.

So I'm currently watching "House of Sand and Fog" and it's quite the drama. It's a great movie, horribly depressing, but incredibly well done. I tend to use the same words when describing movies, I need a thesaurus.

FinishLineGFX.com is coming along well. I did the site submissions to various search engines, so once it gets out there, Google should accept it. This whole popularity index thing is a bigger pain then it used to be. Infoseek is virtually impossible to get into without paying. I say virtually because I did manage to get to a "free URL submission page" but that resulted in a broken CGI... should try and hijack it, show 'em whats what, free URL submissions for all!

I noticed it's already listed on the Verizon: Superpages, email needs to be updated, but that's not my doing. He just learned how to log into his webmail ;)

I've gotten most of the sections done, do a little bit here and there. The biggest issue is that most people are using 800 X 600, the site's 800 wide, and about 1000 tall, makes for confusing naviagation if they can't see the bottom section.
I still need to add a little disclaimer about the supported browsers and screen resolutions to at least give an explanation to those that it looks all out of whack... which would be people using a small screen resolution, or those who run a browser older then Netscape 3, Konquorer (Linux), or Lynx. ;)

Side note: in searching for links to www.finishlinegfx.com, I also checked out www.synthetic-x.com on Yahoo and came up with some weird results:

Here's some javascript stars I swiped.

I was going to change the "onmousedown" to "onmouseover" for an annoying effect that would require simply moving the mouse over vs clicking -- give that a shot!

I went to go see Scooby Doo 2 with Rachel this eve.

Full of fart jokes, drug references of various types (smoke, whippits, etc), peeks down the girls shirts and up their skirts, and quite a few jokes that would certainly go over the young ones heads. I was entertained, the effects were good, the story was as good as it needed to be, and there were even some positive messages for the young ones (Be Yourself). I'd give it a good 3 1/2 stars, an extra 1/2 star for content and effort. ;)

Just got back from a bit o dancin.

I was hoping for a night of release, some physical exercise, and maybe a little bit of flirting fun. Not so -- I tried, but felt bad the whole time. Whether I actually was or not, I felt like I was getting glares from all over - from the people I knew, from guys who I thought might be attached to the girl who was dancing near me, from the girl who looked like she wanted to dance but who I passed up because I'd already started dancing with someone else...

I've tried dancing with multiple people at a time before, it doesn't usually fly and one or the other (or usually both) will then meander off. This time I figured I'd try one at a time. That still didn't work as I'd be somewhat dancing with one, she'd walk off, and then the one I didn't pick would be put out and ignore me.

I just got sick of it and left. I was only frustrating myself. It was time to go anyhow, I was on the road and headed home at 12:30. I was determined that I wasn't going to miss class again.

I've realized my goal. Not as in "achieved it" but just realized what it is.
I was trying to figure out how to phrase it, but decided to stick to the vernacular:
I need to learn how to pick up chicks.

When I first met Phil R I was amazed. He looked the part, clean-cut, and was smooth as all get out. He knew just what to say, and would at least get some info, or a nice conversation from the lady in question. Normally all he was after was the phone number. He'd never call, he just wanted the number.
A classic college guy - play nice, be fun, love 'em and leave 'em.
He once bragged about how he finally got a girl into bed after a week or two of prodding and dry-humping, then he broke up with her as soon as they were done. I was amazed.

I would never do that -- couldn't do that. I just want to be able to talk to women without braking out in a sweat, want to be able to converse, to introduce myself. I feel once people get to know me that I can be interesting, charming, funny... it's just getting to that point of being comfortable where I can be myself.

That's my goal. I still have a bit of growing up to do.
I'm probably taking a step backwards with this goal, reverting. I can't revert if I never went through that step though, can I? =]~
I think I got a little ahead of myself with everything, and got scared, as usual.
It's funny because I can't count how many times people have said how good we look together, or what a great couple we make.
I just feel like saying:
"Yeah, I know... but I just couldn't let it go on without screwing myself."

post://10833500057690818/

When we left the theater, Laura & I were recalling various memories of our own. High School, childhood, and then that lead into her showing me her HS photos, the little book she'd just found in her car.

She could see my face drop when she showed me a picture of her ex, and Holly's current (changed as of typing this - April 30th) boyfriend. "I could beat that spud." is all that crossed my min. She went into a story about how whacked Holly was, maybe to make me feel better. A story from when they were little. She meant for me to see the whack-ness but I saw an imaginative mind, an only child, frustrated and acting out. I'd seen it before in Matt Torti. He was whacked, still is, a crazy motherfucker, & one of the best and most fun friends I've had.

Holly is attractive, smart, and imaginative. She's got an attitude, and a bitchiness about her - seen it before in Rachel Friedman-Siddiqi, and god do I miss that girl.

There's just something about her (Holly) that intrigues me. I'd hate to break up a happy relationship (also found that not to be the case), I should go find my own woman, leave these chaps be. I know nothing of his relationship with her... maybe they're happy, but somehow I don't think so (and I was right).

I love when I visit her @ work and I can see her eyes light up, but it's not the answer right now. It's not a girlfriend I'm looking for -- it's myself, and the ability to hold on to that self when I'm in a relationship.

~

I had a dream I was in a small shop, one new register, one old fashioned.
A man ran in & grabbed the old one. He was turning to run away when I knocked him down. I couldn't punch hard enough, couldn't pull out of slow motion. After beating (lightest sense of the world) him for a while, I felt everyone looking on and felt ashamed for not doing better. I looked at the size of the man, pulled from the shame and frustration and started flinging him about like a rag doll. I beat him good, then. I even brought my friend Jay to see the place, afterwards -- pantomiming the act to show how heroic I'd been.

I felt proud.

Parasites -- fix up houses just enough, do repairs required by building inspectors poorly.
Ventilation from shower into eves. Putting a pipe down, to send moisture out, even out the bottom of the eve would be better then simply filling it with moisture. "They've always passed building inspection before when my friend's done it."

Buy, invest, fix up, sell. Sell at full price with repairs done hastily with shortcuts taken, and cheap materials. Everyone has to save $ but at least do it right. No shortcuts, you owe it to the people who will own it next. No wonder Springfield just keeps sinking deeper.

After watching "The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" I felt very nostalgic. As they're taking the meories away they're all bad at first... then they got happier: I felt giddy after, glad that I was with people who made me happy, was even skipping and jumping when leaving the theater.

I feel like I'm myself when I'm single -- so much less bothered, less thinking, more open, flirty. That's me, personable and rarely reserved (besides mixed or unknown company) I can mingle, and manage to just be. It's easier.

It all feels well and good durring the evening, but come nightfall - it gets lonely. It's dark, and I long to have someone to hold.

I had a dream that I saved the day beating up a small man.

God damn it.

I forgot about this:
They're always pushing for oil drilling in Alaska -- they were just trying to come up with a good excuse. People are more apt to say yes to drilling if they think there's no other choice. What happened to the initial agreement of our handling of Iraq oil, huh? Didn't we agree that in order to "maintain current market prices" we'd put any overflow, or "our cut" in other words, into a "federal oil reserve"?

They have influence over these prices, too - over Opec. One of the selling points of the Bush campaign was that he has this great repore with the Saudi's, one of the main members of Opec. We probably secretly said OK to cutting production, then we'll make extra oil in Iraq, stowe it, and make more money off the oil that we do sell (and get 1 cent(?) a barrel for, or maybe it's a percentage? If that's the case then I'd certainly think something's up with this decision).

No -- we don't need to drill in Alaska, but it would certainly help to get back at least what we've spent to "restore democracy" to a place that we didn't need to interfere with in the first place -- at least not so urgently.

I went to go see "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" on Monday night. It was fantabulous! I was extremely impressed with the actors abilities. Charley Kaufman has again written a fine piece of cinema.

If you've seen Adaptation and enjoyed it, you probably know what I mean when I say it follows the same dynamic, circular (read: non-linear) story telling style as Adaptation, and some of the same thought-provoking mind-fucks as both Adaptation and Being John Malkovitch.

You don't necessarily need to bring your brain with you (but it couldn't hurt), just a few emotions, and maybe even that someone special.
