post://106226391815585566/ -= Showtune Style =- I've got something to say: I learned a new thing today. I had thought I was fine, that I knew this calendar of mine. It turns out that was WROOOOOOOOOONG! This calendar is much much more then that. -= ( ( ( -=- ) ) ) =- I thought I knew the calendar, I'm embarrassed to say I was wrong. I thought the # of days went from 30 to 31 every other month because I never analyzed the rhyme. I heard the beginning of it and made the conclusion that February was the only exception, otherwise if a month had 30 days, the following was 31 - and so it went on down the line. I only just made the inquiry to my co-workers that I thought it was curious that both July and August had 31 days. It turns out it was a conflict between Julius and Augustus. Augustus didn't want to be thought of as less of an Emperor so he took a day from February... and that was as much as I heard. I'm sure there's more that could be found in an encyclopedia. posted @ 13:18 post://106221908070689943/ So tonight ought to be called: Night of a Million Mews (that's the working title) I've had a kitten on reserve for a few months now, looks like the black one, currently. I received a call first from Stefan: "Tim's getting a kitten and they might have an extra, just seeing if you'd be looking for one." Then a msg from Kristina: K: "I have a question for you when you get a chance: My ex just called me, can I have a cat in the house? He's really friendly, just hasn't been to the vet since I got him and pukes all the time" J: "Well -- My kitty is moving in sometime after the first. I want to make sure everything is cool, and that she's feeling secure before I got bringing another cat into the house." (besides the no-shots thing) K: "Well it wouldn't be for another few weeks, anyhow... and I'm not so sure about the Vet part" Then most recently a call from Jamie: Jamie: "I have a big favor to ask... my RA just found my kitten, I need to get rid of her :(" Josh: "Does he at least have his shots?" Jamie: "No, he's got nothing" Josh: "Well he can stay here for a bit, but he'd need all his shots first -- I don't want anything bad to happen to him" duck hunt (unrelated, but fun) So I think the lesson is here: Don't have a cat @ college. They're great and all, but get a legal pet... cats are not silent and give themselves away. Do yourself and the cat a favor and find a good home right off -- don't take the chance of keeping it there @ college. Nicole and Caitlin had a similar experience. ...and get your cat all their shots. It may cost money, and you may be bound and determined that you won't have any issues, and that they'll stay inside all the time. What happens in an emergency, though... what if they get out then get in a tiff with a wild cat? Not good... and your kitty will be sad because of it. Please take care of your animals :) posted @ 00:36 -x-
post://106220192689202037/ Well I feel bad that I didn't get to go to the Cape this year. It's so nice there, so relaxing... and I didn't know the dates until the day before they told us we were getting laid off so I missed being able to put in for the vacation days. I just remember what a great time we had last year, and will just have to look ahead to next year. Things are looking good for the 1st, have a few days leeway, so I can make sure everything is cleaned and get my room painted as well as clean the house top to bottom. I'm still waiting to hear from the GAP -- I'm done here as of the 4th now, they're giving us an added day to avoid issues. Suits me just fine. They called me last Sunday to come in and do orientation, couldn't as I was on my way to Boston to see Tori. Hopefully I'll get that over with asap so I can start working a few hours a few hours a week once I'm done here. I'll only do about 10 hours or so, to try and keep it under $100 a week, though if it goes over -- it can extend my unemployment benefits further as it's one big pool to be taken from. post://106202593494937516/ Aug 24th - 8:12am Stefan's Party I'll blame the beer, but damn if I didn't feel out of the loop. I was doing all well and good until everyone started partying hardy. I had drank about 6 or 7 beers -- and kept on drinking them as the night progressed. I wanted to get plastered... needed to keep my mind off of Danielle's new interest. I learned the Stefan had had a similar run in, so I didn't feel so special. It was a weight off my shoulders of sorts -- I was thinking Caitlin was all that was in the way, not true... she just wasn't all that interested. I just felt like she didn't tell me the truth -- but I pressed. When I would come over, or she'd call me later on... it was like she wanted me there, and would more often -- but she'd always blame Caitlin. So she's telling Caitlin I'm always making advances, Caitlin thinks I'm a dirtbag because I am bugging her when she has made it clear that she's not interested. I keep trying because she hasn't made it clear, in fact not totally opposite -- but she has shown interest to a degree. Once Chris decided he wasn't going to CA -- all was decided, and rightly so - they're both gorgeous people, with similar mentalities. I'm happy for them, just somewhat miffed that there was a lot of turmoil. I acted differently towards others because of this. I didn't want to be a dirtbag, I wanted to go for something good, that just might have a chance -- but there was no chance, it only seemed as though there was. My offer for massage was right out refused, rebuked by the gentlemen that had done already... I didn't -have- to, didn't care but the refusal was brute and hurt. I wasn't right for the rest of the night. I slept on the couch, using my early morning departing for an excuse. I was comfortable that she was taken, and then everything went all weird with the looks I got when I simply offered... being told earlier that evening that I gave good massages. I know I do, anyhow... so there was something else behind the refusal. Caitlin and Danielle showed they were wary of me, that maybe I'd try something? On the contrary, but they don't know that -- which means they don't know the real me. Huh. posted @ 19:37 post://106201991782025797/ The discussion groups are back! post://106192571208794552/ A Day in Boston I went to Boston today -- got an early start, picked everyone up and we were off! It was a long drive, saw a pretty big accident along the way on 90. At least 6 cars were involved and one ended up on top of 2 other cars... a big mess, everyone rubbernecking like mad. We played tourist, took the T to Boston Common, followed the freedom trail, and go some good pictures of the cemetery and things in the area. After a day of walking around, my sorrowful stomach (too much beer on Saturday) was finally ready for some grub. We hit Fire N Ice - a delightful establishment with friendly people, unlimited food, but with a rather high cost - $100 for the 4 of us, not bad for dinner in Boston ;) You choose your ingredients: pasta, vegetables, all sorts of beef, chicken, pork, fish - choose your sauce - and it's all cooked up stir-fry style on a 10ft flat circular grill. A counter all around - the silent chef woman would take your bowl, make a line out of the ingredients on the grill and line it up next to the person to your right. A well-oiled machine, cooking OIL! HHAHAHAHA. *ahem* Anyways... it was delish! We got a pitcher of Sangria... being at the mercy of the females, but I must admit it was quite good. We did so much walking, our dogs were barking in the metaphorical sense. We got to the T - back to the bus station, and out to our shuttle stop just in time, caught the 2nd one - and were inside the gates right about the time Ben Folds started. The Fleet Pavilion is out on the docks, full-score "is this one the water, or land" dock-age, full warf regalia. It's right on the water, yeah. The skyline was gorgeous, and though it was right near the airport with the planes and the taking off and the whooshing... it wasn't really audible once surrounded by speakers. It couldn't have been a better day. Ben Folds was silly - fun, and got the audience involved with some sing/harmony-a-long or two. I was very impressed with his pianist prowess - he talked more then Tori this time. She was oddly silent (all these years) and played quite a few older tunes. I can imagine she'd get sick of playing all the new stuff that everyone wanted to hear. I saw her less then a year ago and she's been touring steadily still. I don't like that weird leaf-head thing though, it's on a few shirts and they had that as the backdrop for the lights and whatnot. We were certainly exhausted by the time we made it out of there, and I must thank Rachel for driving... as I would have fallen asleep long before we arrived safely home. posted @ 03:21 -x-

I didn't want to think about it any more... had done enough thinking all day, just rolling it over and over in my head. I was determined to be heard this time. He came home while I was working with a friend on a website. We were going to get everything set up for Kate -- and get this show on the road... post://106130692724964748/ News: Nachi is spreading, an anti-Blaster worm that patches up the vulnerability after getting in through the same hole and cleaning up after MSBlast. The main question right now is if it preys on any other known windows vulnerability in the background, and the issue being that it's still getting in -- and restarts your computer as soon as it's downloaded and installed the patch. ** Faction Theory ** So here's my theory - cyberspace has always had the "bad guys" the |-|4X0Rz. Well, now is the time for the vigilantes to emerge. They reverse engineer the virus to undo what it's done and protect against it for the future. The only issue being that someone could get ahold of it and modify it further... but since it's only hitting unpatched, vulnerable computers... they're still better off getting the "fixing virus" instead of the "self-populating internet stomping virus" although this new one is still slowing systems by scanning random IPs at the indicated port(s). I think the factions have started to appear, the black and the white, the good and the bad, the angels of darkness and light. There shall be a revolution, with people's parents and the dumb... protected by these cyberspace guardians. She seems like she would really want me around, if Caitlin wasn't so posessive. She also plays it the other way to Caitlin, she's honestly under the impression that me even talking to Danielle, or calling her at odd times of the night... is completely unwanted. It's partially my fault for not being "careful enough" and allowing the evidence of the caller-id to be seen, but it's like there's more to it. Caitlin really loves that girl, and maybe there's something to that. I have previous experience with a similar situation. Jess and Angie. They were really close friends, always around eachother... then one party it all came out -- they were all excited, so glad no one really cared. They were talking about how they'd tell their parents... it certainly was strange. The poor girl (Angie) then got knocked up by some guy... and had to go get things taken care of and to go back home with daddy. It was probably one of the saddest mini-dramas I've ever been witness too. It's the kind of thing that would draw ratings on MTV. I saw Phish there 2 years ago or so, so knew the venue -- it's quite easy to get to, short of traffic to and fro. The traffic did not disappoint me either, we should have headed out earlier then we did, but never-the-less we got there just as the lights were going out for Radiohead to take the stage. We missed the first band, but don't even know who played -- wasn't anyone I had ever heard of. Found our seats but everyone was standing... and when in Rome: block the person's view behind you. There were screens to either side with sort of a live webcam look to them. Cameras positioned at the sides, above the singers head, and on the Titanium Powerbook running the show to the side would flicker about 1-2fps, moving about - floating over each other, sometimes leaving trails, or floating up to the top like the vsync was off on a TV. post://106097906045324338/ The party for Heather and Jon started about 4 or so, I arrived shortly after 5 - just as the food was being prepared. I met Greg's new girlfriend - a good of a reason as any to become Mormon, I suppose. Everyone was already getting started on the drink as well -- most had rather red faces when I arrived. The food was fantastic, their parties are always amazing for that. Shortly after I arrived, there was word of a bird... in the basement. I crept down with Jon, sure enough -- hiding in the corner, fluttering here and there was a very long beaked bird. No idea how he got in there, but he flew to one side of the room, and I stepped closer towards him. I was about halfway there when he flew back towards me. I ducked and he did too... he landed on my back. He tried crawling up my shoulder but I wasn't letting a wild bird near my head... just in case. I started walking up the stairs - he hung on, flapping but holding on my shirt with his feet. I got into the mudroom, closed the door behind me. He kept trying to fly to the door on the left, but the door on the right was open. He was flapping, trying to stay up so I put my hand under him and he perched on my finger. He wouldn't turn around so I turned rather quickly and showed him the door. He flew and took a perch up in the tree. He didn't get mad at me, didn't peck and didn't squawk. "Bird Man of Alcatraz" came to mind, and was mentioned by a few, "Dr Doolittle", a few others =] It's all good, I love the little animals. I don't feel so alone, don't feel like this is quite all for naught... and maybe karma will show itself by the good I've given coming back to me. posted @ 14:40 post://106030841549596411/ If you've joined us from blogshares.com please click here. post://106020684267526980/ I'm back to burning rage mode. .:sigh:. I went home on lunch, just to check the place out -- of course I left my house keys inside. So I could only walk around outside. I examined the window, found a stool on the side of the house... it had been dragged from the back yard to the point of entry. The screen's locks were broken at the bottom, metal brace pulled away and the lock popped. I feel like anything could happen now... at any time. I'm upset that I can't allow a breeze to flow through durring the day while I'm at work. I'm angry that I don't feel safe, that one person can violate my home, and that I can't get back at them. I worry that he might come back in some crazed state, armed and looking for more. I want to shake him violently, somehow make him feel worse then he's made me feel -- make him realize what he's done... but it's nothing to him, I'm not his friend. He only took 1 game from his friend. Oh I can take the philosophical view that he'll get it coming back to him, but that doesn't get him out of the area, doesn't stop him from wanting to come back. If there's one thing I've learned thus far -- it's that they always come back. I'm just so wound up, I don't need much to snap. (grr) posted @ 17:30 post://106020085806058914/ Lots on my mind = lots of entries. This is a test -- can I live in the gritty world of rap? Can I know street cred being so after the fact -- coming to it, not growing up in it. I want this to play out -- to prove one way or another if worst case will happen or not. I need to know if I can make it, if I can learn anything that would help others. Can a person raised in the woods make it in the city with the hoodlums? Should I just run away before I lose more? posted @ 16:14 post://106019895082749305/ Thats it, just have to start selling my body. This guy is receiving the ultimate publicity -- eBay banned sales of the artist's "Axis of Weasels" playing cards. Heard of "Flash Mobbing"? Yeah, I got the 411. I'm jiggy with it. - mobproject.com - flashmob.co.uk Wow, here's a new and original idea for a game. Chances are no one would receive it because it's such a hefty machine. Anyone coming to trade it in on a bike -- probably shouldn't have it. I would certainly love to find it, but I'm not overly optimistic at this point. It's better that two of my female friends are going to check it out too -- because then they wouldn't suspect anything, and they're really good at using their charm. Also found out what part the little weazel hangs out in: Longhill - one of the seediest areas of Southend Springfield. posted @ 13:39 post://106018758944458895/ I'm a schmuck, a fucking schmuck. Do I need to come off as an asshole to make it in this world? If I'm a civilized human being will it continue to make me a target? It sure seems it, I must have a big shiny "shmuck" light popping up over my head. I suppose it's my fault for living in a city. You have an increased element of crime, but as of late it seems things have been getting desperate for the street urchins. Trust has always been my downfall, time after time I look back and kick myself. Phil "can't believe he'd do that?!!" but it's not him anymore, it's a rat hitting a feeder bar -- except the feeder bar takes a hell of a lot more effort and involves hopping out of my house with my laptop & XBox. He took the games before, but this time came back for the XBox -- and the 2 new games I picked up yesterday along with the DVD Player/Remote. He must have been watching... waiting for people to leave, for my light to go out. If someone had in fact slept on the couch -- it wouldn't have happened. I should have, if only I had a seccond chance. I suppose there's more hope for my laptop then the XBox -- @ $2200 a year ago, that's going to be the tougher of the two to replace. We got the serial number, I called Toshiba to report it stolen... and the police say they'll call all the pawn shops in the area to be sure it's not sold. Maybe there's a chance that he'd sell it to a store -- might have a shot, then - but it's a big ticket item, and no crack head's going to give him what it's worth... so maybe he'll be just that dumb, I hope.
