Well I just got the low down on why someone's car alarm went off last night. 4 Spanish guys in bandannas hit my car to see if the alarm was armed... the beep set off the neighbor's car right in front. The neighbors came out to see the 4 guys getting in a gray 89'-92' Tempo and jetting. They told my 2nd floor neighbor this morning, and he told me. I went out to take a look at it and they called me over to talk. Apparently they've broken into 3 of their cars repeatedly... as well as mine, previously. It might not be the same guys, but it's certainly a known fact that my street has good cars, I guess. Maybe it's because I don't have "Willito R.I.P." in white lettering on my back window. That seems to be the "don't touch my car, I'm with you" tag, here in Springfield. Can I reiterate my desire to get the hell out of here?

In this assignment, we had to choose a piece that was used so far in the course, and write a short description from the Referential listener's point of view.
Air from Suite No.3 in D by J. S. Bach
from Basic Musical Concepts: "What Type of Listener Are You?"
Referential:
I'm particularly fond of violin as it is. This piece builds, and sweeps me away, being carried further by the harmonizing of the strings.
It's meant to relax, gives one an opportunity to think, remeniss. I'm immediately taken to past memories and images of nature, trees catching the breeze, and large fields of grass all swaying in unison to the "wind". If Bach was intending on giving an auditory representation of 'air', he succeeded, and swept me away with it.
"Idea" Form
It uses a few basic melodies in a pattern. It has unity of the strings playing in unison, and variety as it's changed using volume and timbre. The harmony of the strings gives this piece it's "feel" for me, coming in for accompaniment at mid-thought, and building to a peak with escalating volume and timbre it makes me feel as if I am being lifted with the heightening notes.
This is programme music, it's meant as a piece of a whole.

Yesterday was a batch of bad news, one thing right after another:
-- computer shifted in the car, wouldn't start when I first got there, reseated the motherboard and it worked
-- purchased front rotars instead of rears, they don't sell rears @ www.tirerack.com but they don't indicate that they're one or the other, replaced the rear pads and brake lines - used the stock rotars, at least it doesn't squeal anymore.
-- got home somewhat late, the person following me back from Sturbridge apparently didn't know the way like I thought they did - they found my place eventually through a mutual friend
-- everything hit the fan at my friend's place of residence, too much alchohol, too many strong heads, causing too many issues (and holes in the walls)
-- attempted to take advantage of my landlords absense by using their laundry facilities in the basement, I was at the end of my clean laundry supply and there was no way to get to a laundromat. The landlord's room mate ventured downstairs and confronted me as to what I was doing: "laundry" I said - "no, I mean: why are you down here" - "my clothes were dirty" - *pause* "why are you using his washer?" - GRRRRRRRR - Hence-for-to be known as: The Laundry Natzi.
He then called my landlord to "tattle".
Yet again I'm forced to see that all-in-all none of that was all bad. Everything was easily solvable, certainly not the end of the world. ...damn optimistic personality. =]
I want a 64 bit system, dual proc -- the best I've been able to find:

Any potential interest in a P4 1.5 Ghz? 860 chipset (7500 is newest, smallest), but this is much quicker then any of the SDRAM or DDR systems out there, it's RDRAM, 400mhz bus with the memory running at that speed, in the newer P4 systems, they've downgraded to 266mhz for the majority of the bus speeds, RIMM equipped motherboards are available, but only special order.
It's got 512mb of RAM, 4X AGP, Soundblaster Audigy Platinum EX, GeForce3 (ASUS 8200 Deluxe w/ 3d glasses), 40 Gig HD, Ethernet, Zip 100, 4 Labtec speakers w/ subwoofer (dual input for surround), 400 Watt Black case with sliding front to hide the drives... looking for at least $800. I will probably list it on eBay as soon as I get things together for a new one.

Busy at work... busy out of work --
I went to get my tooth fixed on Friday, my first experience with a dentist in quite some time. They were good, had it fixed lickity split... and looks better then before I chipped it :] I keep feeling it with my tongue though -- knowing it's artificial is somewhat strange, like a milestone in body improvement/replacement. What if my arm gets ripped off 20 years from now, will I just go and get a new one, better then the original? I'll be honest and say I wouldn't think twice about that sort of thing -- science fiction, but not too far out.
I was stuck in Amherst traffic after that... ended up seeing 3 people I knew, also stuck in that same traffic. Made me feel better that at least I wasn't alone =]
Saturday I went to the GHO (Professional Golf Tournament) in CT. All the big golfers were there, but I couldn't name any of them other then Tiger Woods :]~ I did see quite a few pros hit, every time the ball would just whiz by *swoooosh*. I saw many a curve, drop, and insanely long drives that I never thought would be possible. I have a greater respect for golf and those that play well =] It was so hot we really couldn't stay for too long, barely (and I do mean: barely) made it around the course once... no shade anywhere, and the concession stands were far between.
I then spent the evening hanging out with my niece. She's a month older then I am. I'll explain:
My father had a son about 35 years ago, he had a daughter about the same time that my father had married my mother and had me.
So that results in my niece being a month older, my nephews are 20 and 17.
We had a pleasant evening, just driving around Worcester, went to a few bars, then played some pool and video games at Jeraldine's. I haven't ever really "hung out" with a relative... well, ever. She's got a daughter, about 2 years old now... Ashley, saw her briefly... my niece's daughter, which makes me a great uncle. =]
I've also, in the midst of everything, been trying to work on my summer class for STCC. I'm taking music appreciation, much more in depth then I was thinking, but I'm pleasantly surprised. I feel enriched while studying, listening to the pieces they have... and it's all done via the web and all the media is on a local cd-rom. I'm still about a week or two behind, but caught up about a week and a half yesterday, alone. It started when I was in Wilksbarre at the beginning of the month, didn't think to double check the start date... but I'm on it now, and should be caught up soon.
To anyone wondering about online courses: day're da bomb van schnapple. =]
I've started training here @ work, temporary schedule of M-F 8-4:30 for the next month or two... lots of time to be out in the summer sun. ...and reduced work load (YAY!) It's a good schedule for the summer... I'm happy.
I'm also putting together a computer for my mom, her 400mhz PII just wasn't cutting it anymore.
New system:
P4 1.7mhz, 256mb RAM, 40gig HD - $400 (17" Monitor - $75, WinXP Home - $100)
If anyone's interested in a similar system for that price range, contact me.

My laptop is getting fixed, I am 10 days late for getting online for my summer class @ STCC, my rear brakes are gone and squeaking like mad, I broke a tooth on a lollipop this morning... and a year's passed since my department began -- and we still haven't gotten a raise. I'm just lumping the not-so-good news things, but it's not all that bad. I needed to go to the dentist anyhow... haven't gotten a cleaning in too long.
It's the end of the week, need to get motivation :]
I have an invite to go to New Hampshire for the weekend, go camping out in the woods, party... but I've been doing too much of that lately. I need to take the time that I'm home to cook, clean... standard maintenance.
I've been playing Warcraft III, I recommend purchasing it when it comes out =]~ It's fully 3D now, everything looks fantastic -- and it's fun, I don't even really like Warcraft usually. GTA3 is awesome -- you may say it's not worth it if you've already played through the PS2 version... but it looks so much better!
Yet again I come back to the desire to be in a new place, a better apartment, nicer environment. I'd like to have people over, do some gaming, but there's no space, not enough electric outlets... and it's so hot up on the 3rd floor. I'm faced with all the things I want to change, the inability (or available time) to change them... and what to do with what I have in the time being. I hate to waste the time cleaning if I'm leaving in a month =]
College costs a lot, even cheap college. That is my main issue right now -- I'm thinking the smart thing would be to take out a loan, but... I want to pay it outright if I'm able, and STCC is do-able, I just have to watch my moolah. So much stuff... but work is great, we're all working, still having a great deal of fun... and have quite a few good links... I'll add them a bit later in the day, so if you're reading this now -- come back in a few ;)

I went to go visit my dad for father's day. I just kind of hung out, we went outside, played with the dog, walked for a bit... it was a nice day. I stopped up at Justin's to say hi, and made my trek back home.
I've been lost in a couple new PC games, and older games that seem like new thanks to updated drivers for my 3D Glasses. They work in conjunction with my 3D Card (GeForce3 8200DLX) and really gives games a good depth (as long as the makers appropriately define the Z-value). Midtown Madness2 is the best, but for addicting play I'd have to say: Command & Conquer: Rennegade takes the cake (1st/3rd person team-oriented multiplayer with vehicles), followed shortly by GTA3 --much more detailed then the PS2 version, physics is better, 3D is delicious, and it's so thrilling to have lamp posts flying at your head =]

What a good party, I was pleasantly surprised at not having to wait in line -- normally get my tickets ahead, but everything was so hectic today, never got around to it :]
I met some really cool people @ Assylum this eve, so a big "hullo" to all that I met. I'm looking forward to getting some pictures emailed to me. A couple of which are of a young lady dancing with torches... really cool. It was crazy there, so much going on... 4 rooms of all different kinds of music, they staggered it well, I wandered from room to room as the night progressed. Had a wonderful time.
Word about the new place to live is slim to nothing. The 3rd party decided he wanted to live with mom for a bit longer. So we're down to two. On the brightside, everyone I know whats to move now but it's such a hassle finding places. Now we have to start all over again, too.
Well, couple people just stopped over, so I'll cut this short... father's day is today, I have plans for later on, minus work.

End of the week, spent pretty much the whole time at work doing data entry. Not bad, got some overtime here and there... could get more but I'd rather be out and sociable. There's a party this weekend at Assylum: Oasis. It's being held by Columns of Knowledge and looks like it's going to be slammin. =] I was looking at their site today and found pictures from All Out Sunshine 3 - from back in 2000 (my first party). I'll be getting tickets ahead of time, either tomarrow or Saturday, so if you're interested in going: msg me.
Had a fun party on Tuesday night: 2 TVs, 2 Xboxen, 2 Halos, 8 controllers, and lots of people. Ran into some difficulties stemming from the significant other that I've mentioned previously. I won't say a word... *COU - succubus - GH* :: I want my friend back...
I had a good time otherwise, and thanks to everyone who attended =]~

I'm so confused, frustrated... mainly due to people that I thought I knew. Either I didn't know them like I thought I did, or they've changed. Usually change is a natural progression... sometimes good, sometimes bad. I have this nagging tug at the back of my head, looking to any available female who I've yet to meet -- usually they're really nice, there has to be something to draw me to them.
My past girlfriend was really pretty -- that was about it. I figured there'd be more under the surface... nope. I like to think that I get my first impression on some really deep intuition... usually it's looks. I try and get involved in a conversation, no matter how trivial... to hopefully show off a bit of my winning personality -- because we all know it's personality that gets you everywhere. *ahem* no sarcasm there... It's quite frustrating, and I'm beginning to think there's no one who meets my very basic criteria:
employed
living on their own - "sans parents"
has a car in good shape
pays their bills
eats
has a good handle on their fiscal responsibilities (meaning: I don't have to worry for them)
likes all kinds of music
preferably likes to dance
doesn't hate video games
is cultured (will go to see a concert, play, etc)
has more then a high school education
has self control, is responsible
even considering women I've met as old as 26, this is asking too much -- I'd like someone to pass the time with, someone who's interesting, enjoys the little things - squirrels, sun, sociology ;)
It's funny cause I have just the person in mind, who knows if that person still has me in mind... most likely not, maybe she wants to move on... but we had such good conversation, back and forth - always with something to talk about. She took care of herself, dressed nicely, had a good aire about her... she mingled, and could jump into a conversation at almost any point. Last I heard she was busy, in kinda rough times, and working quite a bit. That is most likely still the case, but I'll take the hint from the unanswered emails and messages that she'd rather be on her own at this time of her life.
If I didn't think about her so much, I probably wouldn't mind. I was one of the first people to know about her list of requirements, and remarkably matched almost all of them. She also fulfilled more requirements then I had ever had anyone live up to, kinda strange how that works.

Wow, I was wondering how long it would take me to do something to warrant - "it's ok, you're drunk"
I hoped the day wouldn't come, that I'd still have enough control over my head to keep composure. In a way, that is true... but though my intentions were to seem witty, they weren't taken as I intended, and only went downhill as I continued to speak. I rather unintelligently made a comment using an ethnic name in a suggestive fashion. Others that I hang with usually have a pretty good sense of humor as far as race, sexual orientation, etc... they can joke about themselves and their own ethnicity. It wasn't really my place and could have just as easily said: "oh, that's Jane's number... don't you remember her throwing herself at you?" in response to him taking out a piece of paper, unfolding it and saying "what's this?" but because I made it race specific... it was a verbal brick wall.
I felt bad, apologized... but it wasn't the same. The night ended shortly thereafter.
I am sure it won't be the last time, but I hope that it's not any time soon. I don't often make an ass of myself, but when I do, I'll admit it freely.
One more day out here in good 'ol PA. I'll probably take it easy this evening... save up my energy for when I get home Friday night. I'll certainly be glad to be home. Discovery Channel Online also had a tidbit about the sexually frustrated dolphin as he's now been dubbed. Frustrated? He couldn't figure it out? Does he have a bad case of dolphin acne? I mean...dolphins get horny too, he's not necessarily frustrated. .:shrug:.

I had all but given up on my Pyrads, the little ads that appear on www.blogger.com. I had paid for some ads 4 weeks ago, they had been "pending payment" since I had ordered them. My ads were just sitting there not being displayed. I sent e-mail to pyra after the payment still wasn't applied, and in turn received a cryptic response (as it was unrelated to what I had written about)...
Finally today I noticed the counter was up a little... and sure enough both of the ads were active and almost all my impressions used. Go fig. I was beginning to fear they'd never get around to fixing it, but they pulled through -- albeit a bit late.

I arrived here in PA last evening. I'm here on business (I feel so professional saying that), training people on the new billing/everything system. We're well fed, nice hotel... but nothing to do around here.
There's a couple of guys here from work -- about my age, so at least I'm not on my own. We're up on a mountain, right across from another mountain... and another, and another... we're still wondering how high we are, I guess we'll just never know. After dinner, and a little bit at the hotel, we went out for a few hours to TGI Friday's. We had gone there for dinner... had a rather fetching waitress who hinted she'd be getting out about 11, so figured we'd check it out. We had a few drinks and hung out for a while. Jody was pleased that we came back to visit, and it turned out she was heading out to another bar once she was off work. I went so far as to get directions, but it would have been suicide considering we all had to work @ 7am. There were a couple people that I met just mingling about and answering questions yesterday who suggested a tour after work... going out and maybe finding a bar, club, etc. I was interested, but wasn't able to meet up with them before leaving yesterday -- but there's still hope for this evening. It's nice meeting new people, and good to be out of "innercity" culture. People here are better educated for the most part, civil, and dress realistically -- rather then the "hoodrat" look which seems to be all the rage back home. There's a plethora of beautiful, intelligent ladies -- many of whom could be future jean models. (Chauvinistic, I know... but I've heard worse) ;)~
I'm here till Friday evening, so we'll see what other adventures Willksbarre PA has in store for me.
