Today is not as stressful, mostly thanks to not as much invisible pressure being there.

Not much happening -- I'm contemplating my going back to school. It's harder to do then I thought it would be to go back. I'm only going to do 1 or 2 classes, but it's what I have to do to at least start getting things on track. Compared to a lot of people I know, I'm doing quite well -- when compared to most: I'm way behind. I don't want to be stuck like a lot of people I see, though they have full degrees and aren't doing much better.

I plan on programming, I'm enthralled by it, excited even -- it's crazy, but when I get an idea in my head and I can see the code and type it all out as quickly as possible and have it almost work, tweak it, then have it work -- I'm the most satisfied with my work that I can be, and it's all thinking work. That is what I'd like to do. This job has a lot of social requirements -- dealing with customers can be stressful, both internal and external. I can be a team player, as long as others do their part. When they don't is when I set off on my own to prove whatever it is I'm out to prove. I would really like to have more of an impact with what I do. To do what I want to do would mean I'd be working on my own, on a contract, and the finished product would be mine, or at least a part of it.

...now just to go through with it.

Haha, well it is Sunday. I'm at work, I'm a tad frustrated.

I had probably one of the best weekends I've had in a while, save a trip to the hospital because I could have sworn my finger was broken. It wasn't, and I was glad, but it was 3 hours of a Saturday night that I would have liked to use otherwise. I hit the knuckle perfectly to knock it out of socket -- my joint is still sore... pulled my finger to pop it back in -- it did, and then it was still oddly lumped, still hurt, so figured it was broken. It was mainly for not wanting to have it re-broken, or have it heal poorly that I went.

Liz was with me the whole time, and I can't say how great it was to have her there with me. We sat in about 3 or 4 different waiting rooms, had my laptop with me... so we passed the time with several episodes of The Family Guy & The Simpsons. =] It wasn't a typical hopsital visit -- didn't feel like 3 hours, but still felt bad that all of it was for naught... and felt like a numbnut cause I felt I had to go.

Now I'm frustrated because I am up against seemingly un-passable obstacles. I'm no spring chicken, but some of the things I'm running into make me feel like a chicadee. This is only at work, but unfortunately, that is where my money comes from.
I wish I could do more, half the time don't know where to start, and once I find where to start it's been longer then I should have taken to do the whole thing -- just to start the job. I do my best, work with what I've got, seems to be more then most, but feels short to me.

I was just thinking of something... last year about this time I wasn't doing very well.

The day after Valentine's Day I had been in an accident coming south on 91, I was hit by a gas tanker, 18 wheeler -- about 4 in the morning. The car was totaled, I was pretty much too. A few days after the accident all the muscles in my back seized up and I wasn't overly mobile for the past couple of days. I was just reviewing the days I missed work last year about this time -- and it hit me that I didn't even get a Valentine's Day last year. I suppose that's part of the reason I embraced this one so whole-heartedly.

It really makes me thankful that I'm still going... and fairly strong at that. I'm truly happy -- I have good people in my life, and as much as anyone may bitch about this job... I love it. I have fun just hanging out, my house is a home, and I am comfortable. There's a lot to live for, and so much more to come.

Well here it is Sunday evening. It snowed a bit today -- already gone to wetness and rain. For whatever reason (and I'm blaming the chairs @ work -- they took away our ergonomics) my back is killing me, neck... all hurty and whining :] I'm pleased overall. I had a fantastic weekend, spent it with a lot of really cool people... all just chillin -- playing State of Emergency & Final Fantasy X in all their glory.

Got to go clothes shopping with Liz for the first time -- it was great, we work well in the store and we both speak "clothes". I don't know how long we were there, felt like a couple of hours, ended up being half the day. Grabbed FFX mainly for her sake -- and we started playing into it, pretty good so far. It has real cinematic quality -- we were able to play it with a room full of people and all were occupied. The gameplay was fairly straight forward, it started getting complicated later on, but by then we were both tired, didn't really feel like remembering it -- so gave up for the night at that point.

I wasn't able to get my own copy of State of Emergency... but a friend brought it over -- amazing. Rockstar has gone and done it again. =] I've got dibs on the next shipment EB gets. Also played Airblade... not bad, it's no Tony Hawk, but hell: they're hoverboards! (its even got a song - back to the phuture) DTS/surround, makes things sound nice. I kind of hate to put the PS2 on DTS though, because it's either the game & music in DTS, or MP3s from my own collections going through the surround, and the game sounds from the TV -- that works the best.

I've been crankin out the CDs, working on a possible "clip compilation" VCD to go along with the latest for Fast and the Furious. We'll see how that comes out.

Mainly a weekend revolving around video games, people, and Sam Adams. =]
Ahhh.

H&R Block is baaaaaad. After waiting an hour and a half on hold today, (after finally obtaining a phone number from an H&R Block financial office), I was brought through the endless loop of looking at my rejected return and having to file it via mail. The reason, it turns out, that it was rejected... was that the federal form has an area for "apt" and the state form doesn't. Since the federal form didn't fill out the state form correctly -- it haulted the process. Well they couldn't put it through again, I couldn't resubmit because of their error. They said all I could do was mail it in. I didn't pay them $29.90 to mail in my taxes, I want e-file and I want next day refund... word! I asked for a refund, afterall they had stated "satisfaction guaranteed". We'll see, fair warning, though.

Valentines is set... falls on my friday. More good news -- new schedule at work. I get 11-7:30 instead of 1-9:30. I lose track of daytime goings-on when I work that late. It also means I don't have to get up that early. I have a plumador of links/news so check everything out.

Well today's my friday. I can't believe how quickly time goes by... especially when I'm with that special someone. This whole week has gone by quickly... strange. I'm doing well, things look to only get better. Home, work... it's all good.

Taxes... those have issues... and I'm kicking myself now for not just going to a real human. It cost me a bit more last year, but I had someoene else to work out the kinks. I've e-filed every year so far... don't know why the difficulty now, H&R Block Online -- why? why?!!

A friend of mine is leaving. She's going back to college somewhere near Chicago. It's somewhat strange because although she's been working at the same place as me for quite some time... it's been a very long time since we've said anything more then the occational "hi". I wouldn't even know if I wasn't hanging around someone's desk when she was telling them she was leaving.

She was part of the intial "group" which consisted of my 2nd roommate, my buddy Jay, and a few other people here and there. We'd go out, enjoy a bit of pool, hanging out, video games... it was a nice little group. It gradually worked its way apart as people changed, mainly due to who they were dating at the time...
I had expressed my feelings towards her -- but I just wasn't what she was looking for... and I just didn't feel it was worth the struggle to keep her as a friend... it was too hard to see her with the other schmucks she'd choose to date instead. Now she's off, I probably won't see her again, and I really don't mind. I'll always have the pleasant memories of us hanging out -- when things weren't so stressful... and things made a hell of a lot more sense.

I wish her the best of luck, and to those that I don't see anymore that are somewhere in the area -- those were good times, but people move on for different reasons.

Not too much happening... been playing with my Palm III. I've got the irDa port on my phone so I'm trying to set it up to dial up using the phone as a modem. Might not work with my phone, but it's worth a shot for gits and shiggles.

SSX Tricky retains its fun value still... and unlocked the mysterious and difficult area 5 in Rez. I still maintain my ratings of both of these games, if you don't own them yet -- you're missing out =] Devil May Cry -- you've probably already heard of it. It looks beautiful, I had a bit of trouble with the camera, but I had the same issues with the Resident Evil games, though I love to watch it... and kicking ass is so much fun!
